    Transportation - Then and Now

Hey! That wagon looks like it's sporting a set of Deavers? Or are they Nationals? :ROFLJest: :ROFLJest:

    Off-road Mode.

What Greg posted is the right idea but it looks like a graph from an RC car where the purpose is usually to "desensitize" the throttle... Electric motors have full torque at zero rpm and can be a handful to drive. What they do on full size vehicles is "over sensitize" the throttle so a...

    Off-road Mode.

In the old days the manufacturers sometimes used goofy linkage arrangements on the carburetor so that at half throttle at the pedal, the throttle plate in the carb was almost wide open. This "fools" the driver into thinking the vehicle is faster than it is. These days, these types of tricks...

Long distance lighting on the cheap!!!

The little Hella's FF50's are not a true pencil beam... but those little suckers sure put out a lot more light than their size (and price) would lead you to believe! I also like them for their "stealth" qualities when off... can you find the FF50's in this pic? (even harder to see...

I would love to get lesons from an expert

Understeer is not a problem in the Raptor once you figure out the technique... in fact, I worry more about oversteer at speed... and that's with the "boat anchor" 5.4. ;) What I'm going to describe is counter-intuitive... but the Raptor handling is very much like some of the off-road cars...

    Snow run...Morman Wells Trail

Here's a few more... one of the nicest runs I've ever been on. It was like being in a different world but we were only about an hour out of the bright lights of Vegas...

"The Video" RPG tuned Fox 3.OOOHHHHS

It looks like the setup is really getting dialed in! It's great to have a vendor do some actual R&D rather than just bolting on a bunch of shiny new parts and calling it "better". (Obviously even the 3.0 Fox Shox needed some tuning... most vendors would just sell the shocks as they came...

    Two switches of deathray!!!

Some good info... but this I doubt. I believe the 20" and the 40" use the same components... spot modules in the center and wide angle modules on the sides. The 40" just has twice as many LED modules. One thing that is very true is that single lux measurements are "almost" useless... a...

If I were going to "compare" shocks, how would I do it?

You can't drive a dyno. If you want a real world comparison, IMHO dyno testing is not going to give it to you. Back when I was racing off road, Most of my competition was spending time and money on more HP. I spent a lot of time dialing in my shocks. I mean a LOT of time. Think of it this...

    Two switches of deathray!!!

Big Blue... hats off to you for your honest evaluation! I have 3 HID lights behind my grill and the reduction in light is significant when I close the hood... But I also agree that the light that does make it through is definitely useful. Range is not really affected, it's just not as...

Build your own VHF Radio Package

Way back when I installed a Cobra CB in my Raptor... required for some 4WD clubs if you want to go on a run with them. See Thread: http://www.fordraptorforum.com/f12/cb-antenna-install-5606/ The CB antenna mount has a 3/8"-24 thread... the cable end in the truck is a standard PL-259. So I...

Build your own VHF Radio Package

MUCH better deal! We got the one with the PL-259 connector and an adapter to the radio... BUT, I believe SMA-J is the same as "SMA Female" so you could buy that version and skip the adapter! Please check with the vendor first as I'm not an expert on antenna connectors. (for me, I need the...

Build your own VHF Radio Package

The Speaker-mic is worth it... Part# WSXPK $15.99 Also, we got the mag mount antenna and adapter from AES for about $60. An external antenna makes a huge difference in range! But to be honest, you can probably buy a suitable external dual-band mag mount (or other mount) antenna for less...

Build your own VHF Radio Package

FRF Frequency List For those who choose to buy from AES and get the "pre-programmed" radio, here is how it will be set up: Notes: 1. Jason told me in a PM that he has some "Wally World" radios that are not capable of turning off the PL code... The Wouxun, unlike "Wally World"...
