if they were cheap over wattage bulbs it wouldn't be the first time a housing or connection melted due to the heat generated

yeah well clearly there were some heat issues. those high performance bulbs draw more current than what some connections are made to withstand. it's just like installing an amp in a car. if you try to run a 5000w amp off 8ga wire...somethings gonna melt. there's way too much resistance to pass any kind of serious current through small wires or cheap connections.

I had the Streetglow Lights in when this happened they were a 100w bulb. Never going to use those again. I since installed the Nokya Arctic White Stage 1 bulbs. They are a 60/55 watt bulb and have a 7000k rating. Now I have to see how these perform.

yeah, holy hell 100W is a lot for headlights. watts= amps x volts. so there's your answer. it's like trying to hook up a garden hose to a fire hydrant.
