Hello, so my 2017 Screw started making some noise on the way to work last Friday. At first it seemed like it was when it was under boost, like a grinding/rattle noise. It goes away but comes back shortly after. No CEL, truck drives good otherwise…read somewhere about certain vacuum hoses or solenoids causing it. Thoughts? Wife is coming home from the hospital today after giving birth and we really need both trucks up and running. Thank you!

Does the rattling go away when you put it in 4A or 4H, if so, it’s most likely a vacuum leak with your IWE’s

When the noise occurs, switch the 4WD to 4A and see if the noise stops. If it does, it’s related to the Integrated Wheel Ends (IWE) which are essentially hub disconnects. Engine vacuum keeps the hubs in be released position in 2WD. Under low vacuum or boost conditions, the hubs can partially engage if there is an issue with the system, such as a vacuum leak.

Heres the part number of the vacuum tube check valve if that’s the issue. Mine was replaced by dealer. I later bought 2 so I can have keep a back ups. It’s about 7 bucks.

Congrats on the new baby! Now throw your wife and the new baby in the bed and romp on it a few times while you video everything. I'll wait. :hat:

Typically any minor wastegate “rattle” or noise may happen only from a cold startup and may be heard between roughly 2-5 mins of the warmup time frame on average. That’s even if you have it. Once the valve heats up it’s silent.

It doesn’t sound like your condition, unless you developed serious failure with the system. Loss of boost/ power would be detected.
