I am surprised Motor Trend has this info:

They say that Ford has experienced durability issues with the v8 they are testing. There was also the one video posted recently of a test truck that was for sure the v8, but sounded sick/down a cylinder as it came back in to the ford building. It was definitely something more than an exhaust leak.

Interesting. Well, will just have to wait and see what they keep leaking for info over the next few months.

Fords V8s suck thats why lol!! I need to remind people of that

I’m starting to think the “R” could turn out to be a crazy high tech hybrid - 650hp/800tq

Great article! Thanks for posting. Ford will not release it until durability is top notch.

What if they bring the 6.2 back with a supercharger and some head work done to it? We know the bottom end will hold up to about 700 to 750 HP....

If Ford brings us a Supercharged V8, it’s not only going to have to compete with the TRX, but a Redeye version of the TRX. Dodge/Ram won’t lose a HP war.

Look at the Mustang GT 500. At 760hp it’s still shy of the Redeye sitting at 797hp. Granted, the GT 500 is a better performing vehicle on the track, but Dodge still wins the HP war. That’s really all that Dodge wants, is the HP title.

6.2 was designed for commercial use in Super Duty, it’s not a high performance engine. It’s also heavy since it has a cast iron block, which is detrimental in a performance application like the Raptor. A supercharged 6.2 would never pass even basic Ford durability testing without coming apart violently; it was never designed for forced induction. The internals would require an extensive redesign at minimum, which is cost prohibitive. The 5.2 predator already exists and makes 760HP, there is zero reason to even consider a 6.2.
