I just got a 2017 Avalanche gen 2 with 60k miles. The autostart/stop never kicks in (which is good). What does this mean? Is there any way to find out how the previous owner did it? Tune/programmer etc.

Thanks

Welcome to the place. Use the search function on the upper right, there are a couple of ways to bypass that.

Mine rarely does it and I’ve not done anything. It seems to avoid it in 4A and on short trips. If you pull it up on the dash it’ll tell you when it’s on purpose and why. Ie ‘disabled due to vehicle charging’ or something.

It won't work in sport mode, or if the engine is cold, if the tires are turned, if a trailer is hooked up and several other perimeters or if the previous owner did something like above..

Check under the driver side dash (foot well). Is one of the cables unplugged? If so, the previous owner unplugged the connection to trick the system into believing a trailer was hooked up. This disables the ASS.
