probably. But how many REALLY offroad their raptor. small percentage.

granted it's definitely not a towing vehicle. those air bags look to make the ride a bit nicer.

Then to Nosbusa's point . . . why get a Raptor or even a Rebel? I would think that even though plenty Starbucks and grocery runs happen with people on this boards trucks, the majority still get off road and put them through their paces. If not, buy an F250 and call it a day.

I don't know or pretend to know why anyone buys this truck and not another.

But I do know that the majority of truck, including raptor owners, do not go offroad enough to make a difference. It's doubtful that most of these spend even 5% of their life "offroad".

Not trying to argue with you - just wondering where you are pulling the 5% figure from. Especially for Raptor owners. Sad if true . . . waste of the wonderful capabilities.

Read that many times in various articles. Far from scientific. Just normal sense tells me though that the vast majority of travel most do are on paved roads, or even roads that do not need 4x4 activated if not paved.

But let's do the math in your case. How many miles does your truck have on it right now?

And how many of those miles were doing no bs 4x4 driving? Truck in 4x4 going where a normal vehicle could not go.

Naturally you are probably in the .0005% of owners that took their truck down to baja. haha

Highly doubtful many have their truck in 4x4 high for 1500 miles by the time they have had it 30,000.

All the sudden 5% looks like a lot more than it sounds right.

Lol no Baja trip for me unfortunately. But out of the 25k I have on her, I'd say 5K or so in 4x4. But I do have a lot of dirt and mountains around me to enjoy.

cool. so your truck has spent 20% of it's life offroad. Far more than most.

Not all off roading in a raptor is done in 4x4 though. Actually I have not needed 4x4 since February when off roading.

As for the % of miles off road vs on road, I didn’t start taking it off road until this year, but if you were to count how many miles off road vs total I would still be low on the low side percentage wise. I have only been to 5 events but have to drive 5-8 hours to get to them (East coast trips).

But the times I am off road, they are fun as can be.

Is my case common for folks on here or not? I’m not sure.

Whos saying you need to use the airbags when going offroad? Someone’s looking to prevent suspension sag when towing within the trucks limits, maybe you want better clearance from the front end for looks or offroad reasons & add geiser or eibach springs but don’t feel the need to spring for $1300 deavers + the supporting hardware/bump stops when they’ll only be using the truck offroad part of the time AND - apparently even those who have purchased deavers for similar purposes find that eventually the Deaver springs snagged themselves despite all intents/purposes for that not to happen.

I don’t think his 5% guesstimate is that far off. I put myself in the category of someone who bought a Raptor to use it off road. Even to the point where I don’t have a melt down if I got some brush scratches along the way. Going off-road a few times per month, which is about all time would allow, was probably in that 5-10% range. Maybe more because I didn’t have a commute. Since moving to TX, my off-road time has plummeted. Desire hasn’t changed. I went from awesome and endless opportunities within an hour of my house to limited opportunities with a several hour drive. I think the more pertinent question is how many people bought a Raptor for its badass looks and never intend to take it off-road? I don’t judge what people do with their trucks or money. Park it and put a frame around it, put Cragers and slicks on it, a million lumens of lights, airbags, whatever. God bless America and God bless TX.
