yeah, debating between buying a gun system or just go with the cans. tell me about it, hours of prepwork, to paint in an less than an hour

I'd get the gun, plus if you decide to do more or redo it at a later date you'll already have it. I was glad I got the gun when I first did the busa. Got to use it on the truck and busa again.

I tried to keep a running total when I did my truck. From when I started and washed the truck till I had it finished and taking pictures, over the course of about a week I have 30hrs into everything. If I'd done one solid color, it'd been a lot quicker. I expected it to take a weekend, but the 2nd color made me stretch it.

But for just your roof and hood, I'd guess couple hours start to finish.

plastidip where bed meets cab?

How did you handle the back of the cab where it meets the bed? I've heard of people unbolting the bed to spray the back of the cab. If not, doesn't it leave an overspray mess that's impossible remove if you ever want to pull off the dip?

I taped the window and top of the bed off there. I just sprayed down into the crack. Same on the sides, sprayed into the area. I was worried about that part too, but with some Goo Gone in a bottle or Dip Remover, you can spray it in there let it sit for a few minutes and take a pressure washer and it'll come right off. I haven't tried it yet, but don't for see any issues when I do remove it.

Still looks like it new! No issues and made it thru love bug season. I've been meaning to wash it, which I haven't done since I applied it, but I've been riding the busa alot lately so only drive the truck in the rain. Hard to bring myself to wash it to know next time I drive it, it'll get dirty, haha.

I did clean some bugs off the front at one point and they come off extremely easy, even tho it's rubber. I was surprised.

Also figured out clear plastidip would be a perfect thing to apply on painted parts on front of the truck during love bug season. When it's over, just peel it off! No scrubbing or worry about them eating into the paint!

Here's a video of how easy bugs come off plasti-dip. Bug was on there for 2 days and only used water and a paper towel to remove it.

When you did the flares black, did you put a satin clear over the top?

And I'm assuming you just used the plain ol black color from dyc?

Thanks! I didn't put any clear or TopCoat over the top on the blue or black. Yep just regular ole black from DYC.

I really need to take some decent pictures of it with the fenders. I also need to give it a good wash too and a coat of DipCoat, just always have something else going on, lol.

Snapped a couple quick pics after work yesterday since I've been promising pictures with the black fenders.. I rode the bike to work and was too lazy to pull it outside, lol. Plus in the sun you'd be able to see just how dirty it is.

Hey great job. I loved reading your thread as well. Thanks for posting. So its been over a year and I was curious as to how well its holding? have you had to retouch?
