Tapping into the high beam

I've got some A-pillar lights to install and was thinking I'll enable them on an Aux switch but have the high beams signal a relay to turn them on/off. My question is, does tapping into the high beam have any adverse effect on the electronics wizardry of the truck? Also, is there a good spot to pick up the high beam or a pigtail I could purchase?
