GEN 1 Lead frame

Just going to tear into the tranny to replace the lead frame when i noticed that the slide clip that holds the bulhead connector in place does not slide up. Not sure if the bulkhead connector needs to be in place to alow the connector to slide. Does anyone know if this is correct. Thanks

The white clip is suppose to slide up but does the bulkhead connector need to installed for it to slide

Yes im pretty sure it needs to be plugged in for the clip to slide up. I did it some time ago but i remember something like that
