It was oil consumption. That was why they changed the baffling in the valve cover.

You're at the wait and see point. Have to wait for them to pull it. Then see what Ford says. Sucks. But that's the way the warranty works. I'd be keeping a good line of communication open with the dealer to make sure they're advocating for you. Dealer can swing that in a better direction for you.

I agree. I placed a complaint with this dealership 2 months ago for neglecting an issue with my brakes. The service head manager reached out and wanted to make it right. Now with this issue I am sure they will make it right.

If it was burning oil or running super rich it could have certainly clogged your cats. I bought a zr2 once a upon a time that was thought to have a bad motor, wouldn't start. I checked everything I could think of and ended up cutting a hole in the exhaust on a whim, ahead of the cat, thing fired right up. lol.

Quick update.

I have a new engine, the truck was with the dealership for 9 weeks. They did a lot of work. New engine seems good, the dealership did a great job.

Apparently the timing chain snapped. Cylinder 1 on the drivers side blew apart.

I asked the dealership to reset the engine hours, does anyone know how to do that?

As far as the odometer goes you cannot, you can't even do it legally.
Even through you put a new engine in, the truck and parts have mileage.

Just keep your bill with the mileage on it when the new engine was installed.
Ford's data base will be updated with the serial number of the new block in the truck.

In the 2019 manual it says use arrow keys to navigate the information menu.
Engine Information - Shows engine hours and engine idle hours. Hold OK to Reset

Not sure if that resets the PCM memory, there still might be a total hour counter.
If that's what your trying to accomplish.
