VisionX light cannon Vs Rigid Industries Hyperspot Vs Baja Designs Racer edition

My buddy has 3 rigid Q2 hyperspots and my father in law has a pair of LP9 Pro Driving/Combo. The LP9's easily outshine 3 of the rigid hyperspots despite having a 6° spot pattern for the spot optics and the rigids having a 5°. Plus you get way more width and IPT with backlight and better color temperature and build quality. Some of my brother in laws run rigid bars and have experienced condensation. Although rigid was good to deal with.
I'd be curious to see the difference in light output between the LP9, LP6 AND LP4.
The single led light cannon has always intrigued me though as with the large deep reflector and high power led it should be able to shine quite far with a decent width being a 10° spot pattern.

^ great feedback. I like to hear about people’s real word opinions on lighting. The fact that the LP9s, in the comparison described above, did so well impresses me.
I like the idea of the light cannons too. I wonder if the small LED in a large reflector can be a design flaw. With HID and Halogen, they have a long bulb which completely illuminates allowing every aspect of the large reflector to catch and deliver the light. Which is why I think the multiple small reflectors with LED’s has been the stable in forward projecting LED lighting design. Hence the VisionX multi LED cannon (which I run 4 of) and the ADV series. Amongst others.
Anywho, this light is hanging on my mind heavily and is going to be the one I buy. Super stoked for it. I love everything about it.
Thanks for your feedback. Now if only BD can get some info out on the LP4, a YouTube video might be asking for too much, then I would be stoked.

Ya, I agree with you. Baja designs seems to be the most technologically advanced in LED offroad lighting currently and they haven't put out a single LED with big reflector yet and they are getting incredible distance. I will also be looking heavily at these LP4's and I think you made a great choice! The LP9's are a little to big for my liking but they are the single best LED light I've seen. The 8.7" ADV is advertised at 3200ft of distance and the 8.7 CG2 single is advertised at 3500ft. So I think you might be on to something with the large reflector having limitations. I have some knock off 4.7 light cannons with legitimate 25w luminus chips like the vision x and 4 of those easily outshine a knockoff 42" curved bar with 3w chips and a 32" straight bar with 5w chips and 8° spot pattern. They come no where near 2 LP9's though.
I'm really wanting specs on the LP4 as well. I'm wondering if they will be running 20w chips in the 4 main reflectors. The LP6 has 15w chips and the LP9 has 11.67w chips probably due to cooling. I'm thinking if they can run 20w chips in an xl80 it shouldn't be a problem to do so in an LP4 even with IPT LED's as it has direct ducted cooling. I'm also curious of the size of the reflector as well. The LP9 main reflectors are 1 5/8" in diameter. They are massive lights in person.
I also don't know if the LP9 has 2 racer edition chips as 2 of the 6 spot lights has a fish eye bubble diode like the ones they use in the xl racer edition. Baja designs told me that it's the chip that makes it go from a 6° spot to a 4° spot. The reflector is the same. I might be the only one who cares about this kind of stuff though. Lol.

It was a difficult decision about what to go with I went back and forth between Vision X and Baja Designs. There is no dealer in the state for BD, that has not stopped me for the smaller squadron and S2 style lights. I had the first Generation vision X 8.7 Cannons on a different truck and never an issue. I also wanted the ability to swap light color with the lens option Vision X offer depending on weather conditions. For me the Vision X cannon met those needs. I hope I’ll be able to do a side by side comparison with BD. I don’t know anyone local with a set of the bigger LP6 or LP9

I did not realize there was a difference in the LED’s compared to the LP6 and LP9. Interesting. The fact that you bring up the idea of using the same LED found in the XL80 is equally interesting.
My biggest worry is cost. I am hopping for the same difference in price compared to the LP6/LP9 will be applied to the LP6/LP4. If these are priced high, like if the XL80 tech finds its way in, then hopefully a sport option comes available like the LP9’s have.
LP4 pro with high tech and an LP4 sport with 5w LED’s like the XL sport. That should help put these in reach for most people. So, fingers crossed They are priced well.
Waiting for vendors to chime in. Some insight, especially if you attended SEMA, would be appreciated. Do I have to drive to San Marcos to drool over these?

Fair enough, I think vision x makes great lights. Between them and BD they are the top 2. I don't personally care for rigid, the quality per dollar seems lower. The fact that vision x has the quick snap on covers is very nice and they have clear protectors as well which BD does not have any covers for the LP series. The 4.7 single led light cannons are also E-mark certified so I can run them legally as an auxiliary high beam here in BC without having to put a black cover on them.
Do you notice a big difference in distance lighting between the ADV and the single led light cannon? I too would be curious to see a side by side comparison of the vision x and BD LP series. With 5 of the light cannons, I can't imagine having too much more improvement with BD lights if any. Nice set up you have. Its always nice to see the lights in person before hand too.

Not sure if they are true or not, but if they are, the LP4 won't have 20w chips. They have 8750 lumens total with 1700 lumen IPT (same as LP6) which leaves 7050 lumens for the main 4 chips vs 9500 lumens that the xl80 has. It also says you can get a driving/combo or all spot version like the LP6.
Yeah, I saw that same article. I didn’t get the impression the LP4’s would get an XL80 treatment either. Which is fine by me. I want the LP4 to be at a price point that is good.
On a side note, what do you guys think of the Rigid 360 series. There is a Rigid SEMA walk around video of their booth. I know, odd concept right. Anywho, I honestly can’t figure out if I like them or not.

I personally don't care for the look or beam patterns of the rigid 360 series. 60° is too wide IMO for a driving light and 17° isn't tight enough for a spot light. I'm sure they are ok lights but I don't think they stack up to BD or vision x.
When you went from the gen 1 vision x single light cannon to the CG2 multi led, did you lose quite a bit of distance?
