GEN 2 Why does this thing have to be a *************?

I had a Gen1 put 130K+ on it, used 2 sets of KO2s in the process, got a Gen2 18mos ago and have 20k on it. No Issues, the black panels did scratch up a bit but its an off road rig not a show truck. Maybe you should go buy a RAM, it will sit in a service bay for half of its life.

Yeah, but ewe get that 12” infotainment screen that Jake likes to get penetrated with all the time by his ram.

I've got 14K on mine and the tires are about toast already... I've been holding off on new wheels and tires until they needed replaced but they're about at the point where I won't trust them in the rain anymore. Especially around here with all the POS cars leaking oil, then the first rain comes and you're skating.

They do that full tread too. Ko2s seem to suck in general. When your wife says you need better tires, you get to thinking....

I will not buy or run any BFG tires. I've had 3 BFG OEM tires FAIL - a KO with complete tread seperation like if it was a retread, a TA with same tread seperation, and a TA with steel belt individual wires unraveling and sticking out of the sidewall. None were underinflated or beyond wear limits. BFG bought out Michelin several years ago and their quality seems to have gone down too. A set of Sport A/S on wife's Acura MDX were shedding dime sized chunks of rubber just driving on normal paved roads. Acura said this was normal!

TSB for IWE lines completed, front hubs all replaced. Moonroof parts replaced.

30 miles and no squeaks from the roof and the noise in the front is gone!!!

Im pretty excited, the moon roof squeaked for 2 years and the front end had grinding for 5 months.

Also of note, they found two bolts in the transfer case that were backed out to the point that there were only 1 or 2 threads holding it in.

I read somewhere that the KO2s that Raptors come with are a special blend or build that wears much faster than the "normal" KO2. That seems fishy since their cost would go up to manufacture two different tires.

I come from years of being on Wrangler forums (I understand the implications of an extra 1/2-3/4 of a ton) and the BFGs are widely known to last 40-50K miles or typical driving. Buddy of mine with an old F250 gets 40K on his, only highway and gravel with no "rock work".

So why are the KO2s wearing so quick on Raptors?

There are definitely two different 315/70s. The "normal" one is E rated. The Ford OEM tire is C rated. Cannot confirm tread compound is different but it was always rumored to be, even dating back to the original KOs and the original OEM Raptor tire (when I believe the load ratings for the two different 315/70s were the same).

Raptor tire is specially formulated for our trucks, although no one who knows exactly what is different will talk. Some say it is more geared for snow, some say a bit better for dirt (hah!), and my guess is it is a bit more tailed for street use and costs less. The Cs that come on our trucks will ride better but don't last very long. They certainly don't seem to grip well, at least in my experience. Water 'traction' is laughable.

My guess is that the factory stock BFG KO2's are engineered for less rolling resistence to get better MPG = less traction. Any more agressive tread tire that you put on the Raptor will drop City MPG by 1 to 2 MPG.
