Random soft ticking sound??

I've started getting a random, soft ticking sound from my engine. It sounds very similar to a very light single valve tap. it sounds like it's coming from lower in the engine bay. It does it randomly for short duration. Today on a full cold start, it was quiet until about 45 seconds, then a light tap for about 30 seconds, then it stopped. A few days ago I had driven it about 10 minutes, and then it started tapping as I stopped at my mailbox. 30-40 seconds later it stopped. This is definitely something it never did before. Any ideas what it might be? It runs perfect, no issues, except for the noise. It's nothing like the clatter from cam phasers.

I've seen some mention of that, I wasn't sure what that sounded like. The ticking is kind of random and of short duration, so far.

I have this going on which I’m 99% sure is the waste gate rattle. There’s a $5 fix for it if yours sounds like this.

They all pretty much do it. Mine does it but IDGAF. When it's warm it goes away.

With hood open and engine running hold onto PVC valve hose on pass valve cover see if you can feel it tapping , i tracked down some noise on mine to that, haven't gotten around to changing it yet .

My wastegate rattle sound is most prominent behind the front drivers side tire if that helps. Goes away when warm and gets easier to ignore over time. I don’t notice it anymore. Kind of like when you turn a Subaru on and the motor sounds like it’s transforming into a deceptacon for a few seconds.

Got it too! I was sure it was tappet noise.
