Day 3: Well after caves, we got some good speed and was hitting vados. Vados are a dip in the trail like a g-out that will launch you out of it, so hang on. Well I hit one and got air but that’s when things turned to the worst.

Day 3 (continued):
Right after the vado, come down on a decent size rock that ripped the LCA ball joint out, down went the passenger side. Rest of the group moved forward while the chase truck went back to where we had lunch to communicate to the trailer to come out to get me. Knowing the trailer already had another truck that broke down earlier that morning, I knew that it would be very late if not the next day. I had some sleeping bags to spend the night out there but wasn’t going to give up. We put the ball back in the cup and drove out of the desert at a slow pace for the next 35 miles to pavement and finally got to the hotel where everyone else was by midnight. They had margaritas waiting for us, we needed them.

Day 4: no trail time today. Got up early and started tearing things apart. They had a LCA in the parts truck with the trailer, that was awesome to hear. The pockets were so bent that we couldn’t get the replacement in and the metal above the pocket tore. They welded up the tear and we used a HD ratchet strap to pull the pocket while he heated up above it. Finally was able to pound the LCA in and get on the road. Toe was quite off, driving at 10’clock to keep straight. LOL!
