I apologize to all the i70 drivers I offended bombing across Missouri yesterday

Had a soccer tournament in Overland Park Kansas this weekend, and we finished our last game at 5:00pm Sunday.

I did not want to get home at 10pm, so we headed out. Don't think I ever dropped below 93 for very long. Passed a few Raptors even, and one guy pulling a nice trailer.

My daughter at one point asked "how fast is your truck" to witch I replied "only 100, or my tires will blow up" ..."but we can get to 100 very quickly"

I don't care if you are doing 80 or 90....if someone is on your ass wanting to go faster...get out of the left lane. Making people pass you on the right is where dangers happen.

Yeah, I know the speed limit is 70, and anything past 85 is really not needed.

Did 265 miles in just over 3 hours.

I am on the KC side but I’ve done that drive hundreds of times. Man... I-70 is a serious piece of sh&@. Needs to be 3 lanes in a lot areas. Lake of the Ozarks traffic on weekend doesn’t help.

You made good time, particularly from the Kans-Ass side.

Being on someones ass doing 100 with your kids in the car is dangerous. You are the one passing on the right, your choice, not theirs...


and fyi if you went 85 instead it would have taken you an extra 28min... just saying...

So it's not the ridiculous speed that's the problem, it's the people doing 80 who won't get out of their way that's really dangerous?

My basic rules of thumb is that I'm not going into the right lane to allow someone to pass if there is already someone directly ahead of me. In other words, there isn't really anywhere to go. The other rule is that I'm not going to switch lanes if it means I have to drop my speed 10 mph or so because the right land is going that slow, just so they can go the speed they want to go. In other words, their desire to go 90 doesn't trump my desire to go 75. It's not like everyone needs to pile behind the 50 mph grandma in the right lane just so the guy who wants to do 90 has a clear path.

sounds like the way i drive. if you are in the left, and there's a ton of space in front, you need to move out of my way. most people see my raptor coming, they move, even if there is a car directly in front of them. I'll also move if i notice some car approaching at high rate of speed behind me hah. Nothing to apologize for, altleast you didn't say you were weaving in and out of traffic.

This is what I try for as well. If you want/need to go faster than I want/need to, go for it (and find the speed traps for me). If I want/need to go faster, please let me have that opportunity.

I get what you’re saying, and I make a serious effort to not plug up the left lane, and like you, I’m not breaking my stride to get in behind a slow mover to let someone with more pace past me. I will get out of their way at the earliest opportunity though because having a great blocker is important.

Not to mention, you never know when someone may have a legit medical emergency or similar.
