So I have a 2018 Raptor with 35,000 miles and a bad IWE and transfer case. Dealer won’t warranty it because of “aftermarket parts” stating the bad IWE was caused by an untightened axle nut. Causing the IWE to fail and now the transfer case to fail. I find this hard to believe. Any thoughts?

Well, that loose axle nut can definitely take out the IWE. I'm at a loss as to the IWE taking out the transfer case. Not buying that one.

That’s exactly what I was thinking.

Not sure where you are, but Theodore Robbins Ford in SoCal is mod friendly to say the least. They get warranty work done for ridiculously modded cars and trucks all of the time!!

I have a 2018 as well. I bought it new. Had 52 miles on when I picked it up. At 249 miles the transfer case blew up and left me sit. Ford covered it under warranty. The dealership that fixed mine had me wait for a month to have it repaired because Ford was creating a new part number for the transfer case. That says to me that Ford knew there was an issue with the part and made a new one.

I'd do a little more digging and see how many other instances of a failed transfer case you can find.

Thanks for the help. I’m in the Phoenix area. Might have to drive it to CA for repair.

The axle nut is only 25 foot pounds how did he determine it was loose.. 25 foot pounds is nothing as far as tightness goes. That's of course the tech value according to Ford tighten nut to 25 foot pounds. For example my Nissan axle nut is 65 foot pounds.
