2017 with 13,000 miles. 4th oil change. Cold & nasty outside. Good day to spend indoors with my Raptor!

I changed it after the first 1000 miles, and every 4000 since. I romp the hell out of it, frequent oil changes can’t hurt I guess.

OK, Shockm, with 4 under your belt maybe you can tell me a good way to get the filter off w/no mess? Just changed my filter only (just hit 750 miles) and had most of the oil come out of the weep-hole in the 2nd skidplate. No oil came out of the catch-tray under the filter. Whats the secret? Do I loosen the filter first, let it drain out then finish getting it off? Once I had it loose, I spun it off as fast as I could to try to get it vertical to keep as much oil as possible inside it. Is there a better technique? Don't want to take off the skid plates every time to clean 'em up. My garage is level, but not nearly as roomy as yours...pretty jealous of your place. Thx.

Nope, I haven’t found a cleaner way to change the oil. I just use TONS of rags and go at it. Wish I could be more help!

OK, appreciate it. Glad I'm not missing something simple. Guess I'll make the best of it, take off the skid plate and eyeball the lower parts. Gives me a chance to see if any leaks on the bottom side. TR

For what you’re spending on oil, send a batch off to get analyzed to see how you’re doing. It’s about 40 bucks from Blacsktone labs. I wouldn’t rate my usage to be ‘romp the hell out of it’ but I am not babying the truck either.

You’ll probably find you can push a lot further than 4k miles between changes safely.

I’m sure I can go farther than 4K miles between changes. The oil/filter only cost me about $35 so I figure it’s cheap insurance to change it 3 times per year. (MPT tune, Roush intake, Corsa exhaust).
