“The Night Prowler Raptor Run”

DATES: April 27th, 28th, and 29th 2012.

OVERVIEW: This will be a night run starting 8pm in Barstow, CA going through Death Valley, CA and up to Las Vegas, NV for day 1. Day 2 will consist of traveling back down south off road to the Mojave trail and back over to Barstow, CA. The entire course will be on your GPS unit marked with all the cautions and turns.

DESCRIPTION: For most off road adventure travelers, Death Valley is a unique place to visit in the day time with endless trails and breath taking views. Raptor Expeditions has a little different outlook on things though… Our off road adventures will add the cover of darkness while navigating canyon trails that are illuminated by your off road driving lights. Death Valley (most known for their hot temperatures and scenic desert views) will now be hidden in the dark and the constellations of stars will provide a view like no other. The creatures of the night will be out in full force and the the feeling of solitude will surround you as we make our way through wide open desert and then through the 300ft canyon walls. The driving pace on this run will be a moderate speed and 4wd will be used to climb some of the desert terrain. The estimated distance on day 1 will be about 225 miles and we will end up in Las Vegas, NV by mid morning. You will be able to relax and enjoy your day at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino or take in the sights of Las Vegas. That evening we will rejoin for our awards dinner and share stories about the adventures at P.F. Chang’s. Then it’s early to bed and an early-to-rise wake up call at 5am and the adventure will start again. The day 2 Run will start in the east side of Las Vegas and head south on some high speed trails toward the Mojave Trail. The Mojave Trail is a historic trail located in the heart of the Mojave Dsert. We will end our journey in Barstow,Ca.

WHO IS QUALIFIED FOR THE RUN: Beginner to intermediate drivers who meet the truck requirements. The trail is challenging but enjoyable with some high speed driving. We strongly encourage a co driver!

SUPPORT ON THE RUN: Raptor Expeditions will have the full chase support truck and trailer fully equipped with parts, tools, welders, fuel, and spare tires. The chase truck will be at designated spots along the Rally, so when needed, it won’t eat up our time for a pit stop. Raptor Expeditions will also have 2 Raptors on the trail. The first Raptor, or lead truck, will lead the pack over the entire course and will be constantly monitoring the progress of the entire group as well as the logistics of chase meeting points and fuel stops. The last truck on the trail will be RSV 2 and serve the purpose of sweeping the trail and making sure everyone gets there safely.

The OE runs have chase crews. Therein lies the difference. We don't run around a track where it is pretty easy to get towed or limp into the pits since we don't have any pits or run a track. Everything has to be fixed on the trail. It is totally worth it to me to have the peace of mind of knowing I have backup when I break something that isn't easily fixed and the fact that I don't know the trails out there so they are all plotted ahead of time on the GPS.

Plus all the shit we get in the goodie bags almost equals the event fee.

Also, anyone interested in Navigating? Notice I said "Navigate" not "Co-Drive". No one but me and Outlaw drive my truck. I don't share a room either.

The GPS screen gives you an appreciation for the amount of Pre-running that goes into a run. Every caution and turn instruction marked!
