OK, here are the dimensions from the install.

Dimensions for below the are rest in the SCREW:
Length 22 1/2"
Width 2 1/4" (at hinge side)
Width 1 3/4" (at open side)

WSI FE Mount Dimensions:
Mount plate 9-3/4" x 1-1/2" x 1/8" thick


FE Dimensions:
Overall length 13-3/4" (longest dimension)
Diameter 3-1/8"

When the door is closed:
Speaker grill to seat = 3-3/4"
Gap between FE and seat = 1-1/2"


Thanks for all the great discussion. People are making very valid points and are things ones should consider when looking at adding this safety feature to your truck. I thank Trey and the TRR for requiring one. I've had it in the truck ever since, and now I'm looking at adding them to my other vehicles.

Since Wilson needs 10 of them, do I see a group buy coming...

Thinking about this a little more, the way the mount works and how you have it mounted is perfect.

You do not have to open the door fully, to access the release handle. Or have to step into the door opening while operation the release. This is good because if your in a confined space you can open the door just enough to reach it. Plus in case of a fire inside you can open the door and stand behind the door to access the release without reaching into the truck.

Joe like the setup, and thanks for reminding me I haven't added a FE to the Raptor yet.

I do like were you mounted yours under the door but also see the value of being able to reach the extinguisher from the drivers seat. Did you consider any other locations Joe?

I was thinking maybe at the bottom of the B pillar, behind the drivers seat??? Even with the seat all the way back I think there might be room. What do you all think...

I did consider placing it there.
Two things I was concerned about.
1) again with cargo. Didn't know if it would every be blocked.
2) I wasn't sure about the side air bags. I didn't want to mess with them, b/c I didn't know where they were exactly.

Over all, I think it would be a good spot.
I'd like to hear about it if you go that way, and see some pics.

I should at least get a FE for the truck and hold it if I have to. Is their a certain kind you should use for vehicle's or are they all the same.

I believe the best choice for a truck would be a dry chemical ABC style FE. They will Handel fuel, electrical and other general types of fires. Basically everything but flammable metals (like Sodium) or big commercial kitchen size oil fires. They make a bigger mess than some of the extinguishers designed for a specific type of fire but do you really want to carry 3 different FEs and then have to remember which one to use when your trucks on fire...

Wanted to add an update to the post. Since adding the WSI FE mount to the truck, I get a ton of comments. They like that the truck is equipped with a Fire Extinguisher. They are surprised and think that it is cool.

This past weekend I was at Little Sahara and had zero issues with the mount. Still tightly held in place after running the whoops and doing some jumps on the back buster dune. Luckily, never had to use the FE.

My solution

Here is what I did.
Very quick and easy.
This is a standard auto fire extinguisher that comes with a plastic bracket that it snaps in and out of and it is secured with quick release strap.

In this location, the whole thing is nicely wedged in to place, basically resting on the floor. I didn't want to drill to the floor, so I used the lower part of the console just above the floor to mount it. I marked the hole locations after finding a nice snug fit.
I took apart the back of the console (easy) and drilled two holes for the bracket.
The console plastic is nice and strong, but I still used a piece of aluminum plate on the inside to reinforce the mounting location. I curved it slightly for a nice tight fit.

The extinguisher is wedged in, so there are no forces that could rip it out even under the most extreme conditions. It doesn't move or rattle. It is easily accessible from every seat and yet, it is out of the way, tucked away in a spot that looks like it was meant for it .

One more thing I want to add is an industrial velcro strap in addition to the plastic quick release strap.
