I've had my Raptor (2011 Black Crew) for about 2 weeks and we have just had the worst ice storm in years here in North Texas (Dallas area) - about 1" of sheet ice (no snow) on all roads - sub 20 degrees and no idea when it will heat up - We are NOT prepared for ice down here - no salt and only a few sanders that only work intersections. As such, schools and businesses have been closed for 2 days and everyone is driving 15mph. Everyone, except for this Raptor owner!!!!

This truck rules. I had an 02 Chevy Avalanche 4X4 and it does not even come close to how the Raptor does on this ice. The truck grips amazingly well as it accelerates and also when it brakes. ABS does awesome and traction control is great, even in 4x4 high. I honestly am having a hard time getting it to slide much when others are doing 360's! I am almost able to travel like it is dry and am in complete control the whole time. You know that maniac that drives by so fast in bad weather - me in the Raptor (but Im really not a maniac)!!! I "track" a Dodge Viper as my good weather hobby 8 or 9 times a year, so my driving skills are pretty good - and this truck is just impressive in these conditions. I am super happy with this extra wide and tough machine!!! Credit to the Ford guys for doing such a GREAT job on this truck. I couldn't be more pleased!!!

Ya, its all ice up here too. I love how you can keep it in 4wd the whle time. At stoplights, everyone takes off soooo slow with their tires spinning crazy, I wait for an opening an floor it past them, tires never break loose. It just feels so grippy on the snow and ice.

That's good to hear. I would be laughing the entire time. Are you running the stock rubber? Welcome to the forums!

Hey Tim, We be here in Plano and I am 100% with you on these machines. I have been ****** people off for the last 3 days. Like you say blaast past. Hit the holes. Now I do not agree 100% with the stopping on the slick as snot ice. I have been gearing down and its real decent but you hit the brakes and you slide just as much as the next guy. Thats why I just pass in the grass, ditch or wherever and don't hardly ever hit the brakes. Traction is great, story on that next.

Passed a Plano cop in his 2 wheel drive lowered cophoe, tahoe, He was doing like 15 mph. SHIT MAN! He pulls up at the next red light and rolls down his wind and motioned me to do the same. I did, He said, going a little fast are we? I said, no sir. Just doing 40, the speed limit. He grined and asked that I be carful around others. I agreed and when the light changes I jumped on it and made my left and was gone over the hill before he crossed the entersection. HAhahaaaaaa. I am sure we will meet again.

BDrag - you are probably driving faster since you cant stop!!! Great story on the cop - I know the SUVs they drive and passed many of them myself the last few days and was wondering if they would hassle me!!!

Tim, Like I mentioned in our PM session, maybe they will hassle you and not me! AHhahaaaaaa. I bet this area will see dozens of these Raptors because of the cash flow of the area. Lots of kids with cash and old guy's like me with little cash but no bills either. HAhahaaaa. Here is a pic from lunch at Micocinas on Preston Road today, look familier? I Look fwd to meetin face to face soon.
