I have zero complaints with the 3.5 power wise, but if they were to come out with a v8 i would for sure be trading it in for one.

Essentially how I feel about it too. Of course, it would need to be a V8 that's more powerful than the current 3.5EB. V8 TT getting 9/13 mpg with 11 combined? Sign me up.

I wouldn't trade in right away, but when it came time for a new truck, i'd for sure be checking that box off if it was an option.

seriously? you've never seen the ecoraptor?

the truck was built in like, 2012. SDHQ built it.

Seriously haven’t seen that. But I’ve seen the ecopoop which started its life as an 11 or 12 ecoboost and was Raptor swapped

I don't think they will since this truck is all about the highest horse power with the least amount of weight. The trade off for a bigger engine and more weight goes against what Ford is trying to do.

I think the difference would be minimal.

2 turbo's, piping, cats, intercooler, yada yada yada adds weight as well.

I might have to disagree somewhat, bigger engine mean 2 more cylinders, larger cast motor and what is added by the two extra cylinders. Ford is also looking at efficiency along with power output. The truck has a heavier frame, larger suspension and more heavy duty, yet is at least 500 pounds lighter, and that's not all due to the body being aluminum.

A V8 won't be 'ecoboost'. That would not make sense for them. A supercharged v8 does make sense and is already proven. If a V8 cones, that's what it would most likely be.

Hey MGD,. when will they give us that updated engine you promised was in the works back in 2016?

Do you think it will be here by 2022?

I'm waiting to see what's new with the 2019's.......colors and minor things.

Wondering if I should just buy a 2018 now, so maybe, just maybe if they decide to put a v8 back in the raptor, I can justify getting another new truck in a year again hahaha.

Speaking of the 2019s when to the announce the minor improvements and or new colors ??

we will most likely never see a v8. Ford is trying to move away from v8s all together. And with that even diesels. They currently have a patent for a diesel replacement engine that uses a small tank of e85 for high torque demand situations where it ramps up boost significantly. Ford is also pushing hybrid development in the trucks. I would bet money on a hybrid raptor in a few years. Google KERS if you're unfamiliar with how it works and how much power and torque it can add.

Oh and guys are swapping the gen2 3.5 EB into EVERYTHING now. Even gen 1s.
