One issue with G1 EB's was carbon build up on the valves but Ford made changes to the fuel injection for the G2 EB by adding port fuel injection along with the direct injection which in effect washes the valves. Still the potential for intercooler buildup I guess but the catch can's don't hold up well in extreme cold weather which is probably a big reason why manufacturers don't do anything like that from the factory.
