Hello!

Outside of the iPod, do other MP3 players work with Sync3? I've tried looking around and haven't found a good answer. I just find what phones are compatible.

Thank you!

I haven't tried any but the iPod, but they should. I loaded all my music on a thumb drive to try and fix the iPod "indexing" issues, and it plays directly from there fine (still takes too long to index due to number of files).

I tried connecting my FiiO X3 yesterday, but Sync didn't see it.

I just ordered a 3.5mm to USB adapter to try piping sound from the FiiO to the system speakers.

Fingers crossed that it works. I'll post back the results.

So I received my USB to 3.5mm adapter today (first photo) and connected it to my FiiO MP3 player.

However, as soon as I plugged it into the USB, the SYNC3 system gave me the following error...

I tried various methods of getting the system to see my MP3 player, but nothing worked. So I plugged my player directly into the USB (again), and this time it actually worked. My FiiO’s screen indicated it was connected...

...and the SYNC3 system displayed my player as a source option. I located one of my playlists, and it started right up while it continued to index the remaining songs. All of the menus native to my player were available on the SYNC screen. I was pretty bummed when I saw that the SYNC system lacked a 3.5mm jack and wouldn’t accept the USB/3.5mm adapter. I’m so glad I tried the USB cable a second time. Unfortunately, I don’t have any other brands of MP3 players to try, but I would assume it will work if it has a USB port.

Sorry for the lousy photos.

NOTE... I’m not sure when it happened, but the LED lighting around my front USB ports no longer works. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s due to the high draw of the FiiO (5V~2A).

Yeah, those adapters are generally for USB outputs, not inputs, and everyone that I've seen who tried them had the same issue. I'm glad it recognized your device.
