Its not that bad... and definitely less painful than dealing with any California dealers. I purchased my truck through a dealer in Texas and had a great buying experience. They are almost uncomfortably nice and accommodating and would apologize profusely anytime there was a hitch in the process, which ultimately wasn't their fault.

My dealer went ahead and dealt with registration per my request. I drove for 4 weeks or so without a problem with a temporary Texas plate (No issues). Received a letter in the mail requesting that I get a VIN cert and smog check. Went to DMV with those items and a check for the small difference in sales tax and walked out with my stickers and plates. Also, TX dealer initially sent my Cert of origin with the other paperwork and sales tax so I didn't have to deal with it.

Only had with wait an hour or two max as a walk in at the Costa Mesa DMV since my online appointment option was sometime in 2021. I also recommend asking someone at DMV what the best time to go and not wait is. I got tipped off to go mid afternoon so I didn't have to wait too much time.

Pretty painless and well worth the savings. Good Luck!

Hope this helps.

Nothing awesome about DMV especially Kalifornia's DMV.

Yes, you do need a title. Since you financed it, the bank you financed it with will provide the title directly to the DMV. You'll need the DMV to request it from your bank and they will then send it to them.

And you need registration as it should have been registered in NV where you purchased the vehicle.

Your dealership should know all this since they must be selling vehicles that are going to CA

agreed the dealership I bought mine from took care of everything I just had to get the truck weighed and pay the stupid fees. I still have not installed my plates from pretty close to 3 years now. I have been pulled over 2 times and I just tell the cop my back plate got stole and DMV needed the front to issue me a new back one. the run the vin and see all my reg is paid and I have insurance and send me on my way. cept for the talking on cell phone ticket LMAO.

Hi,

I bought the vehicle in Las Vegas and received a 10 day transport permit to drive back to my home in SoCal...Why would I register a brand new vehicle in Nevada (where I do not live or reside or work? Only to register it in California?

I'm just going to pay off the 20K and get the title----I have bought 2 new vehicles from this dealer in Nevada in the past 4 years and not had the requirement for title or Manufacturer Cert of Origin---Just mainly don't like he idea of driving around without plates---good way to meet police on a regular basis...SO my 70K truck will sit for the next 30 days---DMV should be shut down and privatized...I am registering a truck, not opening a casino....Lesson learned on my part---

lol you have a brand new truck drive it. mine is 2014 still have not put plates on it. if you did get pulled over (you won't) its a fix it ticket that you are going to fix anyways.
