Early last week, I noticed what looked like a paint bubble on my hood. It was dead center near the windshield. As it got hotter out here, the bubble expanded. I confirmed it was a bubble by pressing on it. Visions of wreaked paint - totally sucked... So late on Thursday I took the truck over to my dealer, Perry Ford in Poway, CA. They took some pictures and got on the issue immediately. First thing Friday morning they called and said that Ford had approved all repairs. They then pointed me toward their recommended body shop, Marck Motors in El Cajon. The service at Perry was fantastic. Zero grief. Very fast response. They repeatedly underscored that I had purchased a new truck and they would not rest until it was "better than new". So Monday morning I took the truck to Marck Motors. As soon as I pulled up, they wrapped the interior in plastic and gave me a ride home. They called later that day and explained what they found. There was a defect in the fiberglass on the hood and this was causing the bubble. They even snapped some pictures and sent them to me. They also inspected the entire hood and the rest of the truck to see if there were any other suspect areas. They sanded the area, repaired the fiberglass, blended the paint and clear coated the entire hood. I picked up the truck this afternoon. The paint is flawless - perhaps better than new. The color match is perfect. There is no indication that there was any work done at all. They washed the truck to make sure I could see that there were no scratches, etc. from the repairs. This is a pretty unique experience for me. I rarely find myself saying much nice about a dealer or repair shop. But in both cases, these folks treated my truck like their own. The work was done quickly but carefully. And it seriously looks as good if not better than it did on Monday morning. If you are looking to do business with a dealer or shop, I would highly recommend both places.
