GEN 2 Added Yakima Crossbars and Cargo Carrier

Our Durango RT with cargo carrier is our normal road trip family vehicle but I wanted to be able to do the same with the Raptor for winter ski trips. We need more space though for week long trips with the wife and three kids. I got the inspiration from someone on the F150 forums site.

I have the Retrax Pro MX bed cover and mounted Yakima supports and crossbars to the cover with a little modification to get them to fit. I added the Thule Motion XT Large cargo carrier which is just about perfect, hangs over the bed just a couple inches.

List of stuff:
Yakima Landing Pad 7 x2
Yakima Skyline 4 Pack
Yakima JetStream 70” Crossbars
Yakima SKS Lock Cores
Thule Motion XT Large Cargo Carrier
Yakima HighRoad Bike Carrier x2 (not pictured)





Distance from back truck window to front support, this distance was needed to allow the HighRoad Bike carriers to open forward and not hit the window





Modifications to the landing pad was easy with a disk sander. Two holes were drilled in the retrax cover space between the truck and cover and the landing pad came with some nuts with gaskets and RTV sealant which worked out perfectly.

The Crossbars can be easily removed and all you see are the little black Landing pads which stick up about an inch or so.

Really liking this. Do you have a pic with the bike on there? You just spawned some ideas.

I carry my road bikes on a hitch mounted but im considering this if I can mount some rails cleanly. I have a BakFlip on there now that im not willing to give up.

If anybody likes this idea and needs a bedcover check out the Pace Edwards Ultragroove Metal. I purchased it for this same setup however it has built in rails so no modifications are required.

Looks good! I have a similar setup with the cross bars mounted to yakima rail setup on my tonneau!
