Yup. Tech was an old school guy who really knew how to diagnose and troubleshoot rather than just read codes. He said he couldn’t find anything else out of the ordinary, seemed to just be an anomaly of an issue. I bought it CPO in 2020. I’ve never had anyone inside there before and doubt anyone...
SOLVED
Turned out the torque converter was ballooning for an unknown reason. Swelling pushed everything out and was causing the flywheel to unevenly rattle on the spacer between it and the block. Here’s a pic of the spacer the tech just sent me.
I guess you’re not very in tune with the difference between revenue and profit? For the prices we paid, that guy barely made any profit. Probably just enough to cover the abundance of time spent on everything. Need to stop looking at it like a massive business enterprise and realize he was a guy...
Entitled much? He didn’t sell them based on quality, he sold them based on “damn this is a crazy good deal.” If anything, the fact that everyone knew he had a hookup through a racing team should’ve given you different expectations. Racing teams don’t build parts to look perfect and last a long...
Update: Finally traced rattle down to coming from inside the bell housing so they’re dropping the whole trans next week. Unfortunately I have one of those trucks that’s got some pretty bad rust (surface on frame/rear axle but exhaust is bad), soooo now we upgrade. Dealer will be installing new...
Foreshadow in my mind since there’s no noticeable issues with power, boost, shifting, steering, AWD/4WD. Wild that it sounds so horrible without any noticeable performance impacts or codes.
Been at the dealer for 10 days now. IWE hubs and solenoids were replaced. Lead tech and his boss are at a...
Interesting, that’s distinctly different though. Thats a quick grinding noise with a hard start/stop. Mine is a true rattle (sounds like all the 10mm sockets you’ve ever lost in a tin can being shaken) that slowly dissipates.
Unfortunately that’s the only time you get it. Just a few seconds at most and only on deceleration. I checked every pan/shield before bringing it in and couldn’t find anything. Techs also went over that.
Additional update: IWE hubs have been replaced and it still persists.
Engine bay for sure, or at least the front of the truck. Definitely not from anywhere under the cab or the rear.
Techs are still kind of at a loss being able to pinpoint it. Unsure of what could cause it, apparently Ford okay’d replacing the IWE hubs and solenoids just to be able to rule that...
Ford dealer is struggling to pinpoint a strange rattle from my 2019 that only occurs upon deceleration. Any ideas? Posting in general cause it may not be engine related. @FordTechOne i know you’re the expert, please chime in if you’ve seen this before!
- Most prominent when letting off the gas...
Was he replacing the ones that have had the clear coat fading on the edges? my hood vent is doing that but I figured it was a matter of a paint shop going back over it. Fender vents look fantastic still.
They’re not 100% frame mounted. I remember looking at these. They still rely on the factory bolts which are supported by the thin aluminum of the cab body.
Did a lot of research, White Knuckle’s are the only real ones out there that are a non-welded option truly supported by only the frame. There are some that combine frame mounts but still use the factory attachment points on the aluminum cab. WK has 4 mounting bars on each side, those each have 2...
