Companies the size of Ford definitely self-insure. It's way more cost effective for them. Plus, if they were insured, once they insurance company paid Ford for the loss, the trucks would become their property and they would be able to sell them. Ford isn't allowing that to happen.

The front wheel wells don't need liners as they have a non-metal inner fender lining that is designed to absorb road noise and aren't harmed by rocks and debris.

The bed and body are an aluminum & lithium alloy called "Al-Li". So rust isn't an issue. I installed the plastic liners on a 2017 Super Duty and they did great.
