Port fueling only comes on under no boost engine operation otherwise you don't need direct injection. Direct injection is the whole reason they can keep compression ration high without pre detonation.

I feel ya with rodent problems I had to run knew wires to coil packs on a car for the same reason. I no have 2 extra coil packs in the raptor now just in case. Audi has had issues with coil packs for several years. I guess the production line has a high rate of failure and makes me wonder...

On the new coil yes on the one I removed no. One removed is HL3E-12A366-AB

I'll drill the old one and reinstall just to get a data point for us. :crazy:

:win: Haha I thought about doing that but it was far easier getting the $40 coil pack and calling it a day. Runs great again. Ford can't help it if there supplier has quality issues they can only require them to meet certain specs. I just wanted to spread the word in case someone else...

According to Ford it is unique, but in my searches it looks identical to those used on the 2.7 ecoboost. Replaced coil pack and all is well. Drives great again.
