Picked up a used 2010 Supercab 5.4 with a few options, with 157,000 miles on it about 6 (?) months ago, put 13,000 more miles on it, now at 171,500... Looks decent in and out but the rocker panels are completely rusted... and I mean completely, utterly GONE. Terrible rust issues there and around certain spots like around the passenger door handle, and a few other places. I've never been a fan of anything new, my other truck is the newest thing I own, an '84 Chevy Silverado crew cab dually long bed, but seized the 454 going to work one day from a seized oil pump, so it's waiting to get rebuilt (once I have the room to build it up... in a dinky ass house atm), but the Raptor popped up, friend of a family member kinda deal, so I snatched it. The 1st Gen Raptor is the only new truck I've seen rolling around that I considered cool, simply because it has that desert race pre-runner thing goin' on. But man I hate new anything. The Raptor is fun, but the sheet metal is ridiculously paper thin, like every other new car. My other truck is sitting out in the rain and has no rust at all after 37 years, and this Raptor is 11 years old and on the way out already... ridiculous. Haven't had the chance to thrash it off-road yet, as it's my only working (street) vehicle, but I'm sure it's a blast. Very happy with the little 5.4, I hammer it constantly, and truly amazed at how well it handles on pavement in the twisties... very impressed. Best on-road handling of any truck I've ever driven. And though the little 330ci small block is pretty decent, I definitely wouldn't mind the 6.2. Been fairly trouble free, replaced the MAF sensor, plugs, and the downstream O2 sensor is toast... the transmission only just started to slip a little on hard pedal to the metal uphill climbs, definitely needs a rebuild, clutch packs are worn obviously. I never use full auto, only manually shift it, and hateeeee the ridiculous useless 4/5/6 'D'... Need to find a shit kit to let it stay in 4th until I'm near redline instead of the stupid, as-soon-as-it-shifts-into-4th-it-goes-to-5th-and-6th-immediately crap. Would love to have an actual 6 speed shifter and just shift all 6 gears manually. Hmmm what else. Oh yeah, had to swap out the paper thin, leaking, rusted rear end cover for a nice cast iron cover, and just put on 4 studded snows to replace the M/T's that I already wore out (I'm hard on stuff)... Fun truck though, could do without all the electronic crap, but hey, welcome to the 21st century. raptor salt.jpg

Welcome aboard. Should be a fun truck, once you fix the problems.

One reason Ford switched to AI years back. Not to mention weight savings.

Welcome to the place, Congrats on a slightly rusty Gen 1. Put the damn truck in "sport" mode and it will hold the gears at a high rpm, you will love it. If you have the owners manual, it shows you how to enter sport mode, and other modes as well.

2010's don't have sport mode. They have tow/haul and off roadmode. Ive found you have to turn off traction control and mash away.

SO, I wander off into my garage, open up the glove box of my 2010 Ford Raptor and open the owners manual, find the small brochure on: how to change modes. OH LOOK: 2 of the options are STREET SPORT and OFFROAD SPORT MODES! Put everything away, come back inside and pour myself a nice hot cup of coffee. That's satisfaction. Now mind you, maybe yours is missing the manual, in which case you can use the search function on the upper right hand corner of the forum and there are pictures of the manuals. Hope you have more fun with these modes.

ok, so according to my manual, there is no 'Street Sport' mode, at least not for my particular Raptor. There is the Off-Road mode (obviously), which delays upshifts, and when using Off-Road mode and selecting the AdvanceTrac mode (by pressing the button once), that's the only reference to a 'sport' mode, or rather, the "off-road sport mode", that mostly changes the traction control setup... or AdvanceTrac mode (by pressing and holding the button down), disables the ABS and traction control. It also states a big warning that Off-Road mode should never be enabled on pavement. I don't know if that's just a way to cover their asses legally when all the traction control programs are altered and if the driver couldn't control a goKart or a 100cc dirtbike and they would wreck without it... or, if the transmission/transfer case might get damaged when on pavement... or maybe a little of both. I haven't found any info about that yet. Some online searches state that pressing the Tow/Haul button twice will put the truck into Sport Mode, but this is not the case for my truck (yes, I've tried), and my manual says nothing about that. So obviously, the Raptor comes in different flavors concerning driving modes.... there could more more of a difference between the 5.4 and the 6.2 as well... or what else am I missing here?

Oh btw, I have the complete original manual packages, original everything.
