Here in the Northwest we only get 92 for Premium. Haven't had confidence in any of the off the shelf octane boost products but Torco Accelerator has been recommended supposed to not harm the O2 sensors or cat converter.
Don't get hung up on Costco. All the major brands like Chevron, Shell, Texaco, etc are top tier. Costco may have it a few cents cheaper is all. Do a search on top tier fuel stations and you'll be surprised how many there are.

Great article on performance between 87 and 93. It looked like it made the most difference on the raptor. The highest you see in California is 91.

Gen 1s are rated by Ford at 411hp on 91 and 401hp on 87. It's in the Raptor Supplement manual: https://www.fordservicecontent.com/...r-Supplement-First-Print_rp_en-us_09_2013.pdf
Most engines can increase performance, be it max power or economy, by running more timing, made possible by higher octane. And they've all got knock and octane sensors to control it.

I use premium, I only wish is was that little of a difference in price...70¢ difference in the Midwest.
