Are the duratracs meant *only* for cold weather climates? How would they do in Houston?

Eg, would the pavement heat cause horrible tread life? (I’m guessing the material is softer)

The duratracs sound perfect though. And they’re light weight.

I had the KO2's on my F150FX4 -- drove 42mi/day on washboard/pothole/and decomposed granite with fist sized rock. Got just 15k miles! However, the grip was 2x compared to the Cooper that I replaced them with. The Gen1 I have has the KO's, same roads daily and the grip with those is about the same as the Coopersthey

For Grip on the off-road, the KO2 are soft and they bite hard. Life is low!

This test is enlightening, and is what turned me off BFG and onto Cooper in the first place. I wish they'd do an updated one, but beggars can't be choosers.

Dang it. First “not sports car” in 25 years...I looked so forward to finally being the guy that could buy cheap (relatively) tires at Costco or something that would last 50k!!! FAIL! Still trying to decide where to go. Tread ends soon

I have used stock tires, Goodyears, Swampers, and Toyo R/Ts, and I vote for the Toyo tires hands down. They make no road noise, weigh close to the same as stock, handle great on the highway, and most importantly, beat the socks off the stock tires off road- mud, snow, rocks, they are great. And, they will last you 70k miles.

The swampers were the king for muddling and rock crawling, but were super heavy and handled like crap on the road. And they were LOUD!!!

For a tire that does it all and does not require changing wheels and tires to switch back and forth from street and off road, the Toyo R/Ts are a no brained for me. There are two versions of them. One is a little more aggressive than the other, if you are looking for that. Mine are the more street friendly version, and they still kick ass off road.

Hmmm... I'm looking at this tire as well. Are they really that loud?

They dominated the KO1s (and everything else) in that test I posted earlier. They also got new rubber design this year, and someone running them they are better than the stock tires in every condition so far.

If I wasn't eyeing their big brother, I'd go with them.

I haven't run them yet but a fair number of Toyota owners say they are quieter than the KO2s. Some say louder, but not much.
