I went with the Lomax tri-fold. It is supposedly very water proof, I liked not needing another key to open it (the tailgate latch/lock is how you access it), and the fact that it can easily be totally removed if I need to.
This is my plan as well.

I went with the retrax pro. Added Yakima hd bars that come off in seconds for extra capacity on top. Couldn’t be happier and would order this again tomorrow without hesitation.

I had the weather tech/Lomax cover on my last 2 trucks. (This one came with a cheap canvas flip one).

I had the V1 cover and the current V2 one which was much better cause it had a better rail system. The V1 had a foam strip between the rails ans the bed. The V2 rails did not so I added the thin foam just for added protection. The only time I ever got water in the bed was when I was at a car wash ans the sprayers we straight in-line with the corners or even with the bed rail. Even then it was a few oz and not a ton. I never had wet gear after loading the bed and driving in rain and downpours.

I do agree with those that say the last panel does not flip up and it can make loading/retrieving a bit challenging but it is not an every time event.

I love the 400lb support weight which allows me to have a bike rack which easily supports the weight of 4 bikes

How do the Yakima bars come off? Physically sliding out of the t slot or do they have a quick release?
I saw videos on rhino rack quick release bars, but am a fan of Yakima quality. Just have not seen yakima have this.

RickRed, the mounts have a cover that you squeeze and pull toward you, this retracts the locking mechanism. Do this to both sides and it lifts right off. Reinstalling is just as simple.

Pace Edward but like all other retractable, they all leak waters. Not bad leaks but the bed do get wet a little. If you want water tight, you can't beat Diamond Back. I have a rack mounted on my so I don't have a choice.
