Recently upgraded my raptors suspension and wheels. Have 37’s on 17’s and did the full icon suspension. I finally made some time to go outside and enjoy it.

Well when i got back to the road i realized my alignment was off. Additionally i cant tell if it is from the alignment being off or another issue, but the truck is all over the road and it gets really squirmy at higher speeds. Having to make constant adjustments to keep it straight.

So i have a few questions.
1) i thought this truck was built for this? What do you all do if you off-road a lot?
2) is there anything else you can do to beef up the steering rack or help the truck keep its alignment?
3)what pressure do you run your tires when off-roading?
4) have any off you damaged your steering rack off-roading?

Thanks

you need a slot delete kit to lock in your alignment
and align with the UCAs not the slotted LCA mounting tabs
especially with 37s and the ICON suspension
you can get heim’d steering ends but they’re not going to solve
your issue
try running tires at 25lbs off road, you can easily go down to 20 if you want
I think the gen 1 was more prone to power steering failures

I off road all the time and never had an alignment issue. Running 28ish psi

Don’t blame truck design because you didn’t do research when you did your upgrades. it was built for off-road and was designed around all the parts you took off. Aftermarket is fine as long as you know what you’re doing, which it seems you don’t.

Don I doubt you push your truck like I do. I come to forums for answers And information, not haters. There’s enough of those everywhere
Thanks

ICON suspension is just fine and not inherently the issue. I have no clue what these guys are talking about. It’s definitely an upgrade over stock.

What ICON and other suspension parts do you actually have, list them? What wheels and tires? It could be more of how they were installed and if anyone torqued to the correct values. And after 100-500 miles for any suspension, you need to recheck all of it, re-torque if needed. I use marker paint on all my bolts so I can see at a glance if anything moved, especially the lower LCA bolts. Did a shop do it or yourself? How did you adjust your ICONs before you went off-road? How hard did you play? Was it rocky or smooth dirt or lots of whoops? Did you stuff your front end or jump?

My guess is one of the lower control arm bolts slipped or maybe a tie rod got slightly bent. Knocking alignment out happens.

I air down to 25 in the rear and 28 in the front. In sand, I air down to 15/18

thanks rick,
I have the full icon front and rear kit, including UCA, leafs, shocks etc. I had a very reputable shop do the install. Afternarket hq here in LAS vegas. Wheels are 17” icons and wheels are BF KM3. Aired to 40 pounds.
Terrain was typical desert trial no sand, bumps and whoops. I adjusted the suspension from soft setting up 3 clicks front and rear. No Jumps yet just pushing it on the trails as fast as I can. Was going between 20-45 in the all wheel 4h mode.

First off, 40psi for off-road is way too high, air down. I would adjust the front a bit stiffer, go to 5 right in the middle. If its bouncy in the front, adjust up some but I typically wouldn’t go past 7.

Here is a chart that might give you a starting point on the rear. I run general offroad

Walter at Aftermarket HQ knows what he is doing and runs ICONs himself. He should be able to get you dialed in. I personally had some rebuild issues on my ICONs with him but that is another issue. Walter didn’t do the work, a new guy did at the time from what I was told. I would have them recheck the torque on the suspension bolts, one bolt on the LCA could of been missed, it happens. They can check the tie rods too. Did they do the alignment too? Maybe the alignment shop didn’t tighten them enough. Personally if a shop out there can align from the UCA then have Walter install a set of slot deletes and adjust from the ICON upper. I have bent three ICON wheels when off-roading hard but it sounds like you didn’t hit anything too rocky. I switched to method trail series and couldn’t be happier, strong!
