I've already ordered a 2017 Screw and I'm trying to wrap my head around the GVWR and GCWR listed on Ford's site. The number don't add up. It can't tow 8000 pounds if the base curb weight is 5697 pounds (without options) and the GCWR is 12,000 pounds. Even if the truck was completely empty of passengers and cargo you will have exceeded the GCWR if you've attached 8000 pounds of trailer.

I plan on towing around 5300 pounds (Featherlite 3110 and track car) so I'm barely within the published weight limitations if I factor in my guesstimated weight of the truck with options. I max out the GVWR with me, one passenger, very little gear and 530 pounds of tongue weight at around 7000 pounds. Add my trailer and I've reached the 12,000 pound GCWR.

2017 Raptor Screw info from Ford's site:
Base Curb Weight (Lbs.) 5,697
Maximum Payload (Lbs.) 1,200
GVWR (Lbs.) 7,050
Max Towing (Lbs.) 8,000
GCWR (Lbs.) 12,000

There is no mention of a weight distribution hitch and how that may factor into the tow ratings but GCWR is what it is. I'm not trolling and I realize the Raptor is not the ideal tow vehicle. It's just my observation that Ford's max towing numbers are not obtainable.

Jen 2's I'm guessing are similar to the Gen 1's. Not really designed to be a hauler. Soft suspension. Designed to haul ass in the dunes and off road! I'm sure a guy could have helpers put in, or a load lvl set up, I suspect it will hinder the offroad performance side of things how ever

Could you add Bags to the rear. This way you can use them if needed for towing, and when not in use deflate them to retain the factor ride.

Has to be a mistake. You can't have a Curb Weight + Tow Capacity greater than the GCWR. GCWR is typically a few hundred pounds over the sum of other two.

I suspect the actual GCWR of the SCrew is in the neighborhood of 14,000. The Jen1's was 14,700.

The Raptor is the heaviest and most powerful of all the F150's - it should tow like a beast so long as you don't overdo it on tongue weight.

I couldn't agree more. The listed GCWR must be a mistake on Ford's site. It would be nice if someone on the forum with inside contacts could confirm.

Bags would be fine if you are keeping it a pavement princess. Pretty sure you would loose suspension travel when you take it off road with bags installed. I had no bags on my 08 F150 w/ 8" lift then i bought a toy hauler and needed bags and even with them deflated it changed the ride in the rear.

I have seen airbag cups but never read into them like these below:
My guess would be you would bottom out on them a lot faster though.

I looked at Ford of Canada's website. Clearly Ford's U.S. website for the Raptor SuperCrew GCWR is wrong. If my math is correct, the numbers on the Canadian website would only allow for a max towing weight of 7,198 pounds. Either way, an 8000 pound trailer exceeds both sites listed GCWR.

Ford of Canada website:
H.O. 3.5L EcoBoost[emoji768] (Raptor only) -SuperCrew
GCWR: 6,463 kg (conversion=14,248 lbs.)
Max towing: 3,628 kg (conversion=7998 lbs.)

Ford USA website:
H.O. 3.5L EcoBoost[emoji768] V6 (Raptor only) -SuperCrew
GCWR: 12000 lbs.
Max towing: 8,000 lbs.

I contacted Ford Service for clarification. They are looking into it.

I got a result! Ford just updated the U.S. website to match its Canadian website. The Raptor SuperCrew is now listed with a 14,250 pound GCVW.

The number now add up. You will reach the 14,250 pound GCWR in your Raptor SuperCrew if you take into account the 10% tongue weight of the 8000 pound trailer. The tongue weight is considered payload capacity. GVWR of 7,050 + 8,000 pound trailer - 10% tongue weight = 14,250 lbs.

Considering the SuperCrew has a base weight of 5694 pounds without options, you had better pack light, skip breakfast and plan on being alone in the truck if you actually expect to tow 8000 pounds in a fully loaded SuperCrew Raptor and remain under the GCWR.

Sorry to bore everyone with numbers. I realize the Raptor isn't a tow vehicle, but Ford's specs on the U.S. website were incorrect. I can sleep now.

My 12 and 14 perform exceptionally well as tow vehicles. I assume the 17 will be just as good, if not better.
