Power Inverter Capability

The power inverter is listed as capable of supporting up to 400 W. There are 2 outlets in the vehicle. It appears that both outlets share the same inverter. Therefore I would assume that 400 W is shared between the two outlets. Is that correct? I don't think each outlet can support 400 W.

400 W total, and that's not very much. Almost nothing with a motor or heating element. Good for recharging hand tools and low power lights.

Thanks for confirming. yep, I agree that 400 W isn't much. I would have liked more capability. But it is nice to be able to plug in a laptop power supply.

My 2011 F350 Lariat FX4, only came with a 150w inverter stock. At least they are up to 400w now . . .

Any idea how hard it would be to replace the 400W inverter with something bigger (in terms of watts, not physical size)? Or is that even a possibility?

I've thought about replacing the stock one too but haven't done any research on it yet.

Another option is to add a larger inverter and have a hook up in the back of the bed.

Speaking of adding one, has anyone ever added a 3rd outlet in the bed somewhere (without adding another inverter)?

power inverter was perfect for important things like....blowing up an air mattress or charging a laptop while camping

so does this inverter have to be used when engine is running or not?
