So can you wax, coat whatever over the top of the film?

I like the idea of doing the "Impact" area's. Might consider just rapping the whole truck to protect the sides from desert pinstripes!

Does the film have any of the advantages of the coatings? Easier to wash....

You should not coat the self healing films (xpel) with any of the ceramic sealers/coatings. It interferes with the self healing properties of the material.

LB with XPEL Ultimate and Matte

I had the full protection package installed; front facing parts of hood, lights, mirrors, door pockets and edges with XPEL ULTIMATE.

The fenders and bumper surfaces were done in XPEL matte which is undetectable on the bumper. But, since the kit only wraps half of the flares, you can see where the film ends. Looks good though, and if I ever want to, my guy will just make a full wrap on all four flares.

The film with install was $795; a hard pill to swallow but you know the scoop.

My thoughts as well; until it was done. It actually looks like it's intentional! And, keep in mind that this is the way the computer design is cut so it will line up with the hood's film. But, again, yes...if you wanted the flares protected, then you'd have to do the entire flare in front AS WELL AS THE REAR. So, that'd run the bill up a bit more.

Take a close look at photo #3 as well as this other angle...really not bad if you change your frame of mind, no?

Film around Half the flares

Can you explain what you mean half the flare? Pictures?

Sure, Fred...look at the pictures above; especially #3!!! You'll notice that the front flares are protected with matte film only part way around.

This is how the computer design cut them in order to EXACTLY line up with the hood's film cut.

Here's another angle that will help you see exactly what I'm talking about re: alignment.

I had the same thing done on mine and it bugs me, too. I decided just to pay more and get the all the flares completely done in a couple weeks.
