Hi all, I have a 2011 SCAB and I'd like your input on how to tackle some rust I have on the doors. It looks like surface rust to me. it's been raining a lot here so I had to unglog the drains on the doors since it had a lot of water sloshing around.

Also on the SCAB, where is the drain for the sunroof?, I'd like to check that it's draining properly and not clogged.

Bottom door rust, same sensible problem in all cars if not checked on time. In your case, if you want to do the job as it should, remove the door panel , clean the space and protect by a rust convertissor (Rustol, Brunox, ect...) If you only do the job by outside, rust will come back faster. Do it soon , before it's too late ! ;)

Check out YouTube for videos on the F150's sunroof drains, there are a couple there. I believe there are some threads here on the forum you can search for some tips on how to clean out and extend the sunroof drains.

I would sand away with the rust with lightest grit posible, lay a couple coats of paint, let it dry then lay down a nice thick heavy bead of body seam caulk /sealant, right along the middle of the seam. it’s paintable. That way the rubber seal on the cab doesn’t wear through the paint again.

The drain locations have been covered here many times….
