Would this grill LED mod idea work?

I wanna hook up my front grill 3 LEDs to an aux lift switch so that they can be my daytime runing lights. I figured if I just followed these instructions here, it would work.

Is this a dumb idea? Any thoughts? I figure, if I have them switched on, then they would automatically turn off when the truck is off. Will there be any complications with the parking lights?

What year is your truck? My ambers and stuff come on with the headlight switch in the park setting, headlights stay off. 2014 here.

2013, I just want to set them on as DRLs. I don't want to have to remember to turn them off. Unless there's an auto off feature I don't know about....
