is there a way to change the preset to " perimeter sensors only"? I often have my dog in the truck and forget to change to perimeter.

And you can set it to "pop up" the alarm status every time you turn off the truck so you know what the current setting is and can change it...at least on my 2016 KR - assuming it's the same...
