For the most part I followed the directions in the threads that were already on here. Here are the original threads I used:

I used the wires under the sill protector on the passenger side. I wanted the tailgate to lock and unlock with the button on the first press just like the rest of the truck does. I did find that the actuator mechanism is very sensitive to spacing from the original lock mechanism and had to add some washer shims to get it to actuate without binding. I also added a small piece of foam between the actuator plate and the tailgate to keep bouncing and rattling to a minimum. It's also worth noting that the actuator is forced to turn the lock cylinder just as your key would do every time it is locked or unlocked. This is important because if your lock cylinder is dirty inside or if as in my case it gets water in it then freezes your actuator won't have enough power to turn it. After figuring it out I finally got my thawed out, dried up, and sealed from the outside (with a piece of Gorilla tape for now) and it solved all of my failure to actuate issues in the cold. Great mod for me overall since I have the backflip bed cover and really needed a way to lock and unlock my tailgate remotely.
