And I totally agree. I had the V6 TT in my last truck. It was great on the highway and the street. And they can probably overcome the dust issues associated with off-road driving (probably). So if Ford would just put a hydrostatic transmission in the truck to keep the revs way up and fill the remainder of the engine bay with fans pulling as much air as possible over the turbos and exhaust, then they should last forever. I'm sure you are familiar with the some of reasoning behind the huge size of combines and other Ag machines. It's all about stability. And air flow. And filters. And...... I'm like you. I'm no mechanical engineer. But the basic fact that the turbos in these trucks need air to keep from melting down is basic knowledge. I just want to see how they perform when covered in mud and dust for extended periods of time. I know I NEVER had my Platinum muddy like these trucks get. And it NEVER was in the air. And it NEVER drove 400+ miles over some of the rockiest, rough roads that Colorado has to offer over a period of three days. But, they may be the best thing since peanut butter and bread. Only time will tell. One thing I do know, is that the people on here will test them and test them hard. We know the Gen 1 can handle it. But you have to admit, when one little thing fails in those turbos or intercooler, it's gonna be WAY more expensive to repair than a Gen 1 cold air intake or a Gen 1 alternator.
