It`s just a great thing that they did the right thing by leaving their info, most people just drive off like the true scumbags they are. 1990 4Runner has a tailgate mounted spare and usually a hitch, maybe there wasn't a tire mounted on the back and the tire support mount is what hit your tailgate. I can`t see a tire doing that damage unless he got you with his right rear where the rack hinges stick out quite a bit. I had owned one way back and I cant tell you how many times the hinge supports nailed my arms in the garage trying to sneak around it. What are the chances of the insurance company just replacing the shell and other scraped up parts? Do the usually replace everything involved with the tailgate even if it`s not damaged? Curious to hear on that. I had one of the front bumper ends damaged in the parking lot on my Jeep Rubicon and you can get a optional steel bumper that is 3 pieces. The insurance company came out and looked at it and only approved the bumper end. So since it was new the part took over a month to get in and its just a matter of removing Torx bolts. While I`m waiting for it to be fixed, its only a 20 minute job if that, the Tech comes in and brings me out to my Jeep and showed me how the new bumper end looked. Unfortunately it did not come close to even being fitted on let alone bolted on because the actual front center piece was bent too.So they had to order a center section which took another month to get. All that was left from the original bumper that was "good" was the drivers side bumper end cap and the hardware. Thankfully the Tech told them that the other end cap was damaged too, so after 3 months I finally had a complete new front bumper. All on my dime too. Thats why I`m so curious to hear about what they will replace
