USA TO SAN QUINTIN</strong> - This will be a true test of driving ability and endurance!</p><p>With a 5.30am start time, the lucky few making this trip will cross the US border, through Tecate into Baja Mexico, on what is to be the adventure that no mere mortal will forget!</p><p> </p><p>We will tackle the fast, windy, drifting trails of the Compadre Trail through the pine forests and over the mountains of Sierra de Juarez, leading us from Tecate to Ojos Negros and Hwy 3.</p><p> </p><p>With a quick stop for gas and no time wasted, the drivers will make the transition over to Valley Trinidad and start the Pikes Peak of Baja, up to Mike’s Sky Ranch. Normally, this would be where we end on the first day, but not for this lucky bunch of Banditos! The group will press on and head down the back side of Mike’s to Old Coyote Ranch, making their way west to the Pacific Ocean. This road I like to call El Baja Talladega, due to the rolling hills and sneaky sharp turns.</p><p> </p><p>Once we reach the Pacific Ocean, we meet up with the Chase Crew for a quick lunch, then race our way down the coast to San Quintin, where we will stay at Baja’s finest - The Old Mill.” As same of you know already, the Old Mill owner, Javier, is one of the most accommodating people in Baja. SAN QUENTIN TO BAY OF LA</strong> - Rise and shine, the trail awaits you!</p><p> </p><p>Departing the Old Mill while still rubbing your tired eyes, we have a 50 mile road trip down Hwy 1 to El Rosario, for a quick splash of gas and snacks before jumping back on the dirt for the Raptor Expedition favorite, Catavina loop, sure to bring a smile to your face.</p><p> </p><p>This is the true definition of Baja. The Dr. Seuss trees and cactus forests will leave you in disbelief of the beauty of Baja. The Raptor Expedition crew has pre-run and inter-joined a custom section, so that the loop will take us farther south along the beach, before heading east back up to Hwy 1. Chase 2 meets us here for more gas and we continue on a new trail not yet run on any expedition down to the Bay of LA or Bahia De Los Angeles. The trail takes us past the Mission San Borja onto Hwy 5 for a small road section. Be on the lookout for the Baja Dancing Cirio. As you crest the last of the mountains, you will understand the beauty of the Sea of Cortez. BAY OF LA TO SAN IGNACIO.</strong>- If you are an early riser, and want to make your family and friends jealous, the sunrise over the Sea of Cortez is spectacular!</p><p> </p><p>Keep in mind Baja has its own climate and being on the gulf side of the peninsula the temperature will be heating up fast.</p><p> </p><p>A first class breakfast, and then back on the trail, you will see the volcanic islands, just off the coast, and also some old, abandoned jails built by Mexican settlers. The trails of the day consists of some two lane dirt roads, allowing you to put the pedal down. But don’t get too comfortable, the trail will become more technical as we head over to San Rafael, to my old friend, Poncho, the Mexican astronaut who inhabits the point of San Rafael. We’ll say a quick hello to Poncho and drop him off some supplies. ( Poncho is an old and dear friend, who personally helped me out following a severe motorcycle crash back in 2006. Luckily for me, I walked away battered and bruised, but my bike was not so lucky.)</p><p> </p><p>The we will traverse the trails over to El Arco and into San Ignacio, located in the middle of the peninsula and surrounded by a lagoon-type tropical feeling. This is where the humidity starts to kick in, and a tropical part of Baja can be seen for a short while. But we have planned to stay at a beautiful hotel with a huge pool, where with all things going our way, we can relive the stories of the day with an ice cold beer! SAN IGNACIO TO LORETO</strong> - With an early start, we travel just a few miles into San Ignacio town square to see the beautiful Mission of San Ignacio!</p><p> </p><p>We will do a little sight seeing around the Mission, take some group pictures, and get back on the super fast trail heading to one of the best surf spots in Baja, Scorpion Bay. Along the trail we cross the salt flats and some possible non-hazardous water crossing, before our lunch destination in Scorpion Bay. Do not dilly-dally, we have a long road ahead of us, driving down the Pacific Coast before turning off into the mountains of La Prisma. This is where you need all your wits about you - there is no room for mistakes!! The volcanic mountainside claims tires, due to its sharp, razor-like edges, but with careful driving and co-driving it can be easily navigated. Once we start our descent headed for Loreto, we encounter a few silt beds, but what is Baja without a little silt - right?</p><p> </p><p>So, clear the silt from your eyes, as we enter the city of Loreto - the fourth largest city in Baja,with a backdrop of the Sea of Cortez, sail boats and historic buildings, enough to blow your mind! LORETO TO PUERTO SAN CARLOS</strong> - Back into the mountains we go!</p><p> </p><p>At first, this seems an easy day on a smoothly graded trail, leading to the historic San Javier Mission, where we do a small tour. As we leave the Mission, the trail slowly turns into a single- lane graded rock infested trail and leads us back over the peninsula to Puerto San Carlos. This is a fishing town, best known for the viewing of grey whales and unbelievable views.</p><p> </p><p>We stay the night in a beachfront hotel. Although this is one of the shortest days of the trip, with less mileage it allows us to take in some amazing sights and do any needed truck maintenance. Several places to see along the way: the San Luis Gonzaga ruins and the Mission San Luis Gonzaga Chiriyaqui - the most southern of the missions - will be next to visit. Then we start the trail back over the peninsula to hug the coast down to the City of La Paz</p><p> </p><p>The trails to-day consist of single-lane rocky roads and some possible water crossings and super fast two-lane dirt roads. This is when you plan your next life move to Paradise. The we treat you to 170+ mile drive down the East Cape to Cabo. This is a fast-paced, drifting road, with some truly amazing architectural sights to see. This is the longest trip to the tip of Cabo and we can guarantee you nothing has been left out! First and foremost, the Raptor Expeditions Crew, having years of Baja knowledge, will provide you a mapped-out GPS route over 1200+ miles of Raptor friendly trails ( trails that are prerun and ar not going to destroy your raptor) and some more technical trails too. HOTELS - Beginning with day 1 on this epic journey, all hotels are included for the driver and co-driver. We will stay at the finest hotels Baja has to offer while navigating down the peninsula. Once we arrive in Cabo, we will stay at the Cabo Azul Resort for 3 nights this is also included. Please note the hotel in Cabo is only 1 room per truck, so for those of you having friends/family flying in and need additional rooms, this can be arranged by contacting us in advance. Also, the included room at the Cabo Azul is a 1 bed studio which sleeps 2, and can easily be upgraded for an additional cost. Please contact us in advance if you wish to upgrade your room. FOOD INCLUDED ON THE TRIP - All Breakfasts and Dinners are included for you and your co- driver on the trip down. Once in Cabo, food is no longer covered. However, we will be having an Awards Dinner, this is covered for the driver, the co-driver and their wives, if they are present, as well as their children. There is a cost of $50.00 per additional adult for the Awards Dinner. The food provided for us in Baja is simply amazing - believe me when I say you will eat like a King! MECHANICS AND PARTS - If you have been on any of our Raptor Expeditions Baja trips you will know first-hand the “Baja Ninjas” as I call the mechanics are outstanding. They can fix most anything in a timely manner. Should you encounter a non-fixable issue, your truck will be trailered. CHASE TRUCKS AND TRAILERS - On every Baja adventure we take 2 fully prepped and packed Ford F250 Super Dutys with both factory and aftermarket parts. See parts list below. 2010 - 2014 Raptor - We take a complete Alpha1 LT kit with King 4.0 bypass shocks and 3.0 coilovers and rear set up. we also take OE Coilovers, rear shocks, UCA, LCA, spindles, tie rods, leaf springs, u bolts, 6.2 Water pump,4 OE Power Steering and Howe Power Steering pumps, 4 Steering racks, trans cooler, 2 alternators, 2 starters, engine hoses, brake lines OE and aftermarket, drive shafts for X-Cab and Crew Cab, OE Axles and Full floater axles, 3rd members, shifter cables, OE radiators and Aftermarket, Spark plug wires and plugs, 35", 37" and 39" tires as back up spares mounted on Method rims. We do everything possable to fix you truck so it does not get trailered. PARAMEDIC - A Certified Paramedic will be with us the entire way on this trip, who can handle any medical emergencies that may occur. TRANSPORT BACK TO USA - This is a nice perk, but you can choose not to use the transport and drive back to the US with the Chase Trucks, or at a cost of $1600.00 the insured transport will take your prized possession back for pick up in TJ. or you may make other arrangements - and, FYI, the transport has a 1 million dollar insurance bond, so it is safe to say your baby is safe.
