The do it yourself vs professional really comes down to asking yourself 2 questions. (IMHO) 1) Are you a control freak who won’t be happy unless you do it yourself? (I am in a lot of situations, and no matter how good it comes out, I find flaws if I think I could have done it better.) 2) Do you make more money than the detail guy? If you make $100 an hour and he charges $60, it’s kind of a no brainer. (Unless you answered yes to question 1.) For reference, if it makes a difference, the kid who did my Raptor did it by hand, no machines, came out flawless, looks better than any new truck I’ve seen driving around. His process: 1) Wash 2x with 50/50 car wash soap and dish soap to remove all old wax. 2) Clay bar. 3) Polish paint. 4) 3 coats of this stuff. Can say I’m super happy with how it looks and how easy it is to clean. I’ve washed the truck 3x since it was done, and have only needed soap once. Other 2x, dirt and dust came off with just a clean microfiber cloth and water. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
