Have seen a lot of questions (including mine) on the 5 Star tune thought I would post up my experience: I have and installed the 5 Star X3 Tune with the AFE Stage 2 intake with lid on my 2012 Scab. Everyone’s driving habits differ, terrain, altitude, etc. can have a lot to do with things but this is my results. These results are over multiple tanks of fuel for each tune before switching. The initial download/upload on the tuner took 13 minutes to perform. Switching tunes after the initial download/upload takes apx. 3 minutes Even though my battery is new and my battery dying while changing tunes should not be an issue, I always run a trickle charger on my battery while changing tunes, you DO NOT want your battery to die while downloading a tune. With the factory tune, I averaged 13.1 mpg in town using 91 octane fuel. My daily commute consists of all residential streets, no freeway driving. With the 91 performance tune and keeping an easy foot on the throttle in town, (which is a very hard thing to do) I average 12.8 mpg With the 91 economy tune and keeping an easy foot on the throttle in town, I average 13.2 mpg With the factory tune, I averaged 16.0 mpg on the highway. That is keeping the speed control on, driving apx. 78 – 80mph mph (our speed limit is 75 out west and we do have a lot of mountains) With the 91 performance tune on the highway, traveling the same speed I average 15.6 mpg With the 91 economy tune on the highway, traveling at the same speed I average 16.9 mpg Is it worth it? HELL YES! The #1 difference is the feel. Throttle response is 100% better in ANY tune. The shifting is so much smoother. And when you run the performance tune for the 1st time, it is very hard to ever go back to an economy tune! The sound, acceleration and feel of the shifting pattern are so much better.
