Balancer has to come off. Whole front of the engine will have to be torn down and radiator removed. I would not call it a hard job, but it will take lots of time. The oil pump rides on the crank shaft behind the front cover and balancer.
I have looked into 8 rib option as well. ATI does make an...
He could not give me a firm price, but it would be closer to $1k for a one-off run of a set. He did say if I could get a group buy together the price would drop exponential.
I tried to get a group buy together last year, because I knew this was going to start popping up. This oil pump design is...
Yep, I'm running the 3.375 pulley at 10psi and tuner keeps telling me anymore and expensive stuff is going to start breaking. 500rwhp at 5,900 rpm through 100% stock exhaust
Anything over 10psi or 500rwhp and the cast pistons and rods are a ticking time bomb
The oil pump failing is a common...
When you go power sliding around corners on dry pavement you will understand.
A 1/4 mile drag race is the worse example of how the blower changes the feel of the truck. It's pretty kick ass when the back end comes sliding out like you're on the dirt but still on pavement.
I cant wait to get...
I find it hard to blame Torq too much for not being able to get your truck's tune running. Many people have had problems with the latest generation Ford ECU's, not only in the Raptor but in the 5.0 Mustang and new 2013 GT-500's as well.
If they could not handle the tune, then they should have...
Not that much. General rule of thumb is 20hp per 1psi of boost on most modern high efficiency engines. 10psi would add 200hp. So that works out about right for 600-625fwhp and the real world dyno result we are seeing.
With LT's and full exhaust it probably would be pushing more like...
The difference is negligible. Dyno numbers are never 100% accurate anyway. Remember its just a tuning tool. The engines make +/- 600 crank hp at 10psi.
Yep, propane is a biproduct of gasoline production, not really saving anything there. It does burn cleaner.
CNG is the way to go but has a low BTU and requires a large tank. But if you buy a home compressor (not cheap at $10k and has to be rebuilt) you can fuel your car from the NatGas feed...
And neither would have made a wit of difference to the problem I am addressing. The factory puts the original spark plugs in dry. This is a big no no in my book. ALWAYS put anti-seize on spark plugs.
My guy definitely agreed the new gen Ford ECU's are hell. Lots of people had issues with the new 5.0 Mustangs too, and ruined enough engines that Ford issued a TSB to dealers to deny engine warranties on tuned cars.
My tuner's base file tune he gave me just to "get it running and drive up here...
Saw a cool jacked up white raptor with black accents and whipple sticker in the back window the other day. It looked really cool. The contrasting white/black popped.
Just depends what your time is worth to you. I enjoy pulling wrenches as a hobby, this is my big boy Legos, so I would do it again myself. It's not hard, just tedious and frustrating at times.
It's done. Maybe an 8 rib belt set-up after it strands me on the side of the freeway one night after throwing the 6 rib belt. lol
Forged rods and pistons in the distant future too.
I just did my Whipple install guys and ran into a big headache with the stock factory spark plugs.
When I removed the top set of plugs myself I noticed they required a lot of torque to release and came loose with a loud CRACK sound. Sharp enough to make you cringe hearing and feeling that on...
That cobra jet throttle body is what put it over the top for sure. Twin screw s/c's love to have the intake path opened up as much as possible.
Would be well over 500rwhp with LT's and high-flow cats.
497rwhp and 469rwtrq on the 3.375 pulley
Tuning done by Fastlane Motorsports here in Houston - 713-600-8600
Runs like stock. They agreed these new Ford ECU's are a nightmare to tune, but they have definitely got the Raptors singing.
Truck is a beast. Deavers keep the rear end planted and it...
