    Shocks shot?

If it helps, I had a similar question recently. The overwhelming majority of the responses pointed to the shocks needing to be rebuilt. Mine is a 2019 with only 36k miles. I sent them off for rebuild recently, just waiting to get them back to confirm if the shock rebuild was in fact the case...

Gen2 Live Valve Full Stiffness Cause?

That may be more accurate, but I think we understand the gist of it. But yea, I grew up on boats, not cars, so I am out of my element compared to many of you here. Anyways, both Kyle@ApolloOptics, and Rick at FMS had competitive pricing on Eclik and OEM rebuild. It was hard since both have...

Gen2 Live Valve Full Stiffness Cause?

Hey! I never said ARs are reliable! Just comparing a tight tolerance to a mil spec version! Fair point on the closed system, I am just ignorant enough on the subject that I don’t know all the causes of a worn shock. To the uneducated, it would seem like if the seals deteriorate, that could...

Gen2 Live Valve Full Stiffness Cause?

That sort of thing is an issue with some of these Gucci AR15s, where the bolt assembly is machined for such a tight fit, any grit of what so ever causes jamming. The most reliable ARs, actually have a bolt assembly that are not as tightly machined.

Gen2 Live Valve Full Stiffness Cause?

Stupid question. What would you all say the odds are of some sort of grit (like particles from the worn seals), that may cause the needle valve to get sticky? That may explain some reported cases where some hard use may dislodge that debris and the system behaves better for a bit. Or variations...

Gen2 Live Valve Full Stiffness Cause?

I like that graphic. It is no surprise that it takes a lot of engineering for a simple low power “solenoid” to be able to control forces of a system that has incredible amounts of pressure being applied to it. Guys here on this forum have been saying for a long time that there is a lot more for...

Gen2 Live Valve Full Stiffness Cause?

I understand your point. And yes, that has been one of my questions, how likely is it that the valve just gets jammed in the closed position. Maybe that possibility is so slim it’s not worth considering. The “emulsification” of the oil does certainly makes a lot of sense. I am thinking of...

Gen2 Live Valve Full Stiffness Cause?

Based off the facts and others experience here, certainly looks like the highest probability is that the shocks are the fault. Yea, to me thats the primary selling point for E-Clik. Having full adjustment/control. I feel like Ford kind of shafted us with the control of these shocks. I do have...

Gen2 Live Valve Full Stiffness Cause?

50k, so much for my goal to use a longer service interval as my justification! I have been thinking the same thing, having a spare set. This truck is my DD as well, so downtime is a factor.

Gen2 Live Valve Full Stiffness Cause?

Ah, oil emulsifying would explain it. Good info! Now here is another question I don't think I have seen an answer to. Anyone know the expected rebuild interval on the FRS compared to the OEM shocks?

Gen2 Live Valve Full Stiffness Cause?

I would certainly be interested in the cost for your option 1 (FRS and e-click), and option 2 (OEM and e-click). Those would be very tempting options to consider. With option 2, does the price change if I provided new OEM shocks for the re-valve vs shocks needing a rebuild? Short of finding a...

Gen2 Live Valve Full Stiffness Cause?

Yea, your story seems to be the most common I have read when searching through the forum for a similar issue. In most stories the dealer just throws parts at it. Or maybe there was a resolution, but the OP might not have gotten around to updating their thread with the answer. I guess that is...

Gen2 Live Valve Full Stiffness Cause?

Thanks for the reply Kyle. I would agree since it appears the issue has been gradual over time, that it may be shock wear related. I guess I was just expecting the damping capability to be less, not more. I guess I will go ahead and bite the bullet on new/rebuild shocks. Darn, I was hoping I...

Gen2 Live Valve Full Stiffness Cause?

I am a little stumped... I am hoping some of yall that have more knowledge on the subject than I, have some info that might help me troubleshoot this. From what I gather from searching for this issue, there are others that have had similar issues. But I don't recall seeing a definitive answer on...

How does a front diff make fluid?

Well, it has been commonly accepted by me at this point… My apparently flawed assumption is that it would be highly unlikely that the diff would be overfilled from the factory, no less fluid spilling out of the fill port. But I guess they were filled while at an angle. Another weird part of...

How does a front diff make fluid?

Compared to you guys up north, yea generally pretty good weather. Although this morning it’s pretty terrible. 38, humid, and windy. That probably sounds pretty nice to people in some places.

How does a front diff make fluid?

That is my understanding as well, the vent tube should prevent water from being sucked in from around the seals. That is assuming the vent tube is still connected, and still run to where it should be. I got my truck back from the dealer last week, they assured me that everything was ok… I asked...

How does a front diff make fluid?

I am gonna drop off the truck at the dealer on Monday. Hopefully its good news. If I was not so pressed for time right now, I would crawl under the truck and do some troubleshooting myself, just too much to do. Gotta outsource some tasks, and this is gonna be one of them.

How does a front diff make fluid?

Ok, so if you are trying to say all that stuff doesnt help MPGs, what next!? Are you gonna say those ready lift kits, and train horns don't add inches to where it counts either!? Blasphemy!

How does a front diff make fluid?

Interesting! First post I have seen for an overfilled from factory, granted I didn’t really spend much time with the search feature. Gives me hope.

How does a front diff make fluid?

Yea, I’m not the most knowledgeable car guy, but I figured that was a cover used for demos/exhibits. Pretty cool though!

How does a front diff make fluid?

Agreed. I am curious if they will try to deny warrant coverage since I replaced an axle assembly.

How does a front diff make fluid?

ha! Hopefully that’s not the same plastic that Home Depot buckets are made of. Leave one of those things in the sun for a month or two and they shatter to a million pieces on impact.

How does a front diff make fluid?

Good point on the diff not mixing it up when has not been recently switched out of 2hi, I did not think of that. I do not know if the tech did that, or what he did to confirm if there was water at the bottom of the diff. I would agree with yalls assumption that they were probably just looking...
