    Warning about Whipple tune

I’ve been running the Whipple kit for 8k miles with no issues. The difference in power and throttle response is very noticeable, and I am happy with my trucks performance. However, I do not like not being able to revert to a stock tune should an issue arise, and that even if you are able to get...

Colder spark plugs on tuned Raptor?

Yeah me too, I couldn’t imagine what it is. I will see if I can get a picture of it tonight and post it here.

    Thermostat thread

(This is a repost I made from another tread but hopefully someone with the same issues I had will discover it). I discovered my coolant temperature issue. It turned out to be the stock thermostat. When I removed it, I noticed a little sand like material on it. Where did it come from? I have no...

Colder spark plugs on tuned Raptor?

For the people that actually own a Gen 2 Raptor. I discovered my coolant temperature issue. It turned out to be the stock thermostat. When I removed it, I noticed a little sand like material on it. Where did it come from? I have no clue because the coolant was factory. Anyway, I replaced the...

Colder spark plugs on tuned Raptor?

Thanks, I am aware of the importance of gapping but I would recommend that you pull the plugs and inspect the ground strap, base ring, and electrode to more accurately determine the correct heat range and plug gapping than just using a generic number that someone threw out.

Colder spark plugs on tuned Raptor?

Thanks everyone, I'll order a set of SP542’s and see how they do.

Colder spark plugs on tuned Raptor?

The NKG’s I referred to in my first post did not work. When I pulled them for inspection, the ground strap and base ring were white indicating they were too hot. They were supposed to be 1 range colder but apparently they were one range hotter. Anyway, I didn’t notice any difference in the...

When do the intercooler fans kick on?

Does anyone know when the Raptor intercooler fans kick on? I’m troubleshooting some temperature issues and noticed that my intercooler fans were not running. The coolant temp got to 215 and verified they were not running.

Colder spark plugs on tuned Raptor?

My train of though is that maybe the truck is pre-detonating under full boost. Under normal driving conditions it controls the temp fine, but when you floor it for more that 5 seconds, thats when the coolant temps get to over 230. Since it is only a small fraction of the time that the engine is...

Colder spark plugs on tuned Raptor?

Is anyone running a colder set of spark plugs on their tuned raptor? If so, did you notice any difference in engine temps? I've noticed that my coolant temperature gets up to the 230's upon prolonged accelerations and normally runs in the 215-222 range under moderate driving. I was thinking...

GEN 2 Whipple Stage 1 Kit Feedback Thread!

Here is some feedback. (Never mind, had a nice 0-60 video but I can’t upload a Quicktime file.)

    Ranger Raptor

I saw an article saying that the Raptor Ranger would come with a 3.5. Didnt say ecoboost but would have to think so. Even if it isn’t the H.O. version in the F150 Raptor, the 3.5 TT in a Ranger should give it a power to weight ratio over its big brother. That would be very interesting if true...

Anybody installed the Whipple tune yet??

I had to get rid of the stock KO2’s because of how bad it would spin the tires on wet roads. On wet roads the truck would be literally unsafe to drive and would spin all 4 under mild acceleration. I put a set of Duratrac’s on and let me tell you they made a world of difference. Doesn’t break...

Question for all you Leadfoot Owners

I have a black raptor. Within the first 3 days, I installed a 5 year ceramic paint coating. Now I hand wash it via the 2 bucket method. Not a single swirl. Ceramic paint coatings can be expensive but keeps my black looking good, even when it's dirty it still has more of a shine to it than...

GEN 2 Who is interested in a Whipple Stage 1 Group Buy?

I’ve had the Whipple kit for about a month. A Pedal Commander IS NOT NEEDED. I ran a PC before Whipple and the Whipple tune eliminates the issues with dead pedal and throttle response like the PC but even better. The PC could be jerky at certain situations and I ran it on the 1st setting.

Pedal Commander - Post your 0-60 stock vs Pedal Commander

Pre pedal commander my 0-60 time was 6.2 seconds. After installing the pedal commander my times run between 5.1 to 5.3. It's amazing how much more power the truck feels like it has especially off idle. The shifting is much smoother as well. Honestly though I did make several changes at the same...

    Possible Backfire...weird pop noise

I had the same issue (similar to backfire and pre-detonating on higher rams) after installing the Whipple kit. The instructions said to gap the spark plugs at .025 I believe (don’t quote me on the exact number) but long story short, the cheap walmart gapping tool was off. I bought feeler gauges...

GEN 2 Who is interested in a Whipple Stage 1 Group Buy?

I have the Whipple kit and been running it a couple weeks now. The truck is a beast. It feels like it has more torque off idle until the power really kicks in above 3K RPM, even though the Whipple dyne graph didn’t show gains that low. The real power comes on at about 3K and keeps pulling harder...

General Grabber X3 on Gen 2?

Anyone running General X3 Grabbers on their Gen 2? I like the red letter x3’s and was curious how much they would effect the truck as far as feeling the unsprung weight and wet payment traction. Please post a pic if you are running them. Thanks. Also, other than Toyo’s, what is your favorite...

    Red Engine Start/Stop Push Button

Looks good to me! I did the Gt350 button. One major difference is that the GT350 button is convex (curved outward) vs the stock button thats curved inward (Convex). It took me took me a couple hours to figure out how to figure out how to make it fit and about $40 vs $5 and a sticker which looks...

    GEN 2 Red Push Button

You can make it fit. Just file down the back of the red button until the black is gone (mounting tab), disassemble the stock button and file down the inside surface where the red button will mate, test fit the red button to make sure you removed enough material and evenly, lastly take some JB...

    Performance change with temperature

I've noticed the same performance. I am in South Louisiana and work shiftwork so I drive in the coolest and hottest parts of the day. I've wondered if just upgrading the intercooler would help (no tune) but increasing intercooler volume would mean the turbos have to work harder, spin faster, to...
