Danzio sells an 830hp eco race engine - ported heads, cams, etc. I'd say we know what the upper limit looks like on race gas - this is designed to run in a trophy truck so durability is factored into that number. I'm sure there will be 'tuners' making dyno runs at higher numbers but I doubt...
I know there are at least two Gen 1s in here that have done it, one has a 4-link. I can’t find either to save my life.
Can someone please post the link(s)?
Pure curiosity about the work involved, I have no intention of doing it - not to my Gen 1 anyway.
Thank you
I financed for two years at 1.5% then just paid it off. I hate payments.
I don't look at success as a negative thing - doesn't matter how it's couched. The only comparison that matters is how you (not you specifically, the general you) compare to you say 5 or even 10 years ago. As a kid my...
lots of folks are running 650-700bhp on pump gas. I wouldn't look to push past that.
WRT the rest of the drive line, guys have snapped axles running NA so it's all in how you treat the truck.
I have no preference between the two (R vs W). If you are going to build the engine later, get the whipple. If not, the roush 650 package is probably plenty.
The issue I have with an LS swap is that you lose all the Raptor electronics (ORM, etc). If I could do it and keep the goodies, I'd...
racing brake makes a two piece rotor (F/R), they are like 9xx a set for the front, 8xx a set for the rear.

The back story on cams:
long story short - we can't run aggressive cams without changing the pistons. Ford lied, the R/XT cams won't fit so our engines aren't 'essentially' the same as the Raptor R. bottom line, it costs a fortune to make this fucking piece of shit engine make any power.
I...
As I've said in previous posts, the limit isn't going to be the engine. It doesn't matter how much money you spend, you still have to run shitty pump gas which is going to limit your max power. Even an e85 tune is only an option for a select few (~15% of gas stations). I doubt very seriously...
There could be hp/tq variation but I'd lean more towards weight, increased drivetrain loss and rotational mass being the culprit.
Back when the ecoboost dropped in 2011, those guys were insufferable with their youtube vids of fx2s beating Raptors at a stoplight to stoplight run.
I pulled up...
Literally the first thing that popped up when I searched 2017 f150 5.0 4x4. These are ADVERTISED prices which means you could still get more off. The first is a demo ecoboost but the dollar difference is less than 500$.
I said 2017 from the beginning.
You aren't the only one. I wish 'Raptor' was a package that could be applied to whatever other config you liked. IE a King Ranch Raptor, etc. just make it a drivetrain & suspension package (with body panels).
I would LOVE a stripper Raptor Regular cab.

How many folks have you seen get a Gen2 at 52k? TrueCar lists the average (in my area) as 59.9k for a SCREW with lower options. The guy that posted above said he got his for 59 OTD, that is the lowest I've seen, most folks are mid 60s. Veblen in full effect...
IF you could get a new Raptor...
Like I posted, a new 17 is cheaper than a new 18.
The question was can you equal or beat a Raptor for the same money, the answer is yes. We don't need to equivocate or devalue the point because it takes a little more effort. Throwing money at something typically makes it easier, if the...
The answer is yes. I'll concede on the warranty part, but you have to pay to play and that wasn't one of the OPs requirements.
whipple - 7,400, another 12-1500ish to install, call it 9k total.

A 2018 Lariat SCREW 4x4 with the 5.0 is 47 and some change without any rebates / incentives - I bet a leftover '17 could be had for less. You can easily best a Raptor on road and in the dirt for the 20k difference if you are smart and patient.
The 'modes' are a nice to have, they certainly...
pedal commander and tuner are different animals. pedal commander is about eliminating the lag from drive by wire - makes it feel more like a cable operated carb, ie... instant response. it does nothing for hp/tq
tuner adds hp/tq and can improve shift patterns and firmness.
